hey splitter, I'm not sure excactly you mean by "to input the joystick" but this progran should help you out.

IL-2 Joycontrol (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=1021)
It's dead easy to use and all you have to do is show it which directory you have the game installed(it should be something like this"C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946") and presto http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
If that doesnt work try here for some common control problems and their fix's.
airwarfare joystick help page (http://www.airwarfare.com/tech/sticks.htm)

what joystick are you using by the way?

I am assuming you are using some kind of Saitek.... Uninstall everything and reinstall.. make sure you do not connect the stick until you are told to do so.

AAAARGHHH!!!i did not plug in the power supply, sorry i have'nt played for a long while obviously.
My joystick is a Sayteck evo force,do you mean uninstall and reinstall the sim and the sayteck driver anyway?the sayteck profiler editor and launcher icons are still asking me to plug in the joystick. Are they important?

Nope he means only the stick... Seiteck sticks need to be unplug when you install the drivers... when prompt... just plug it in (if there is no promt just plug it in at the end after installing the drivers)
