Hi all,

I just wanted to know if Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory is any good and worth to buy for someone having FB/AEP/PF merged installation.

I am very much looking forward for Storm of War: Battle of Britain but want to know if Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory is worth buying to play until the new Maddox Games flight sim is released. But don't get me wrong - I am still enjoying FB/AEP/PF very much and also plan to get IL-1946.

Thanks for any information.

Here we go again! Yes, it is very good! I suggest looking here before paying much attention to the impressionistic comments of the BOB2 detractors. I've played it since it came out in fall 2005, it has steadily improved, and the developers intend to keep improving it long term---it is not a dead chicken like IL-2.

If Amazon told you to jump off a cliff would ya'? Would ya', punk? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Seriously though, it's not got multiplay which means it's AI's focused and much better at this than Il-2. FMs are not as good as Il-2, I don't think, (haven't tried the 2.06 ones though) Although some of the graphics are weaker than Il-2 the multi-layered clouds are neat. patch is up and get some of the mods. Considering you can pick up this title for peanuts you'd be silly not to get it.

it is a very good game and the option to wargame the battle at a high tactical level is welcome and quite well done.

It lacks the graphical polish of 46 but it's still worth the cash, just make sure you patch it up.

FMs are good and DMs better than OK. AI seems better than on 46.

This absolutely mind-boggling---p-11.cAce! We were both on the same wavelength simultaneously! HA! Hell no, though. I am on the record about this---I chucked my first copy of BOB2 into the rubbish in Oct 2005 it gave me such a pain! I think it deserves a chance, that's all, and IL-2 looks pretty dreary if you are using FSX. It is not the be all, end all. But cheers for synchronicity, that's amazing! We are yin/yanging something, I guess!

Yes its worth buying, and can only improve over time. The Shockwave crew are committed to making improvements with patches. The 2.06 patch will be out soon once testing is complete. Its one of those sims that you either love or find frustrating or both at the same time. If your a combat flight simmer, you owe to yourself to buy it. Nothing wrong with enjoying more than one combat flight sim.

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/agreepost.gif My dirty little secret is that it is on my HD - and I'm glad I bought it. I also regularly fly Falcon4.0AF, Lock On+Flaming Cliffs, MSFS9, and FSX. IMHO FSX is a POS and I wish I had not bought it - I've got a ton of FS9 add on material though and I think it is wonderful.

I have BoB patched to 2.05, and it's OK. The graphics aren't as good as PF overall, but, I like some of the cockpit textures. The DM is not up to IL-2 standards, but, functions OK. The different take on FMs (compared to PF) is kind of fun.

Hopefully 2.06 and increase in RAM will help it run better on my system.

I'd rate IL-2/PF 4.08 a 9 (yes I'm primarily an online player), and BOB a 6. BOB is better than CFS3.

Truth to tell, my computer disliked 2.05 and I am waiting for 2.06 which is supposed to be a huge change for the FMs and many other things. One thing I like about BOB2 is that the people working on it are people who really know the period, and it shows in the details. My academic training was in history so I have a soft spot for historical detail. I like the FMs the DMs and the images---but many don't! I am very fond of the disastrous Bf 110C, and the BOB2 one is flyable, so the sim is practically an automatic favorable for me.

Talk about synchronized thought - I have a BA in History from SMSU! I never used it though and have earned my keep in web design and medical informatics. Ok you've won me over - I'll not bash Shockwave (too much http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)

Decent game but lack of flyable aircraft and no multiplay has kept it off my hard drive. IL-2 just offers sooooo much more. Call it dead if you like but find another sim that has been supported so long. Or find another sim where you have been given dozens and dozens of free flyable aircraft, maps, objects, ect. And if its dead you should go to Hyperlobby and tell the thousands there that. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

My BA was in English Lit and I did all but my exams for a MA in Modern Eng Hist from UC Santa Barbara. Literary editor and custodian of distraught female novelists. Feel free to bash Shockwave---I can't get friggin' 2.05 to work (2.04 worked perfectly)! I'll compromise with you by being a total fanboy for Oleg BOB. We are being so civil we will have to do something nasty like beat up somebody else.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

I mean that it is not going to be developed after the next patch while BOB2 is going to be developed for quite a while yet. I am certain IL-2 will live on for years online before being replaced by Oleg's BOB.

Its not bad, but it has a ways to go to catch up to IL2
