View Full Version : Question about the story - AC I vs AC II?

Ok, so us PC gamers were delayed for 4 months, and then given a half-bad console port (control-wise http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif Graphically, it's not that bad, besides the aspect ratio.).
Spoilers ahead for those who haven't played the game(s) yet, and please direct me to an older thread regarding the subject if it's already been brought up. If it's unactive however, there's no point in forcing me to revive a dead thread. Right?

Anyway, here goes -- I beat AC II one month ago (I didn't bother to make a thread until now http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif), enjoying to it to 95% despite unstable servers, ingame bugs and poor gameplay design, but what's up with the 2012-twist? I'm fully aware that it was hinted dozens of time in the first game, but that one was a good one!
Templars trying to enslave humanity, launching the sattelite on the 21st etc... It was original and pure awesomesauce.
And the faces of Desmond/Alta´r and Lucy didn't look like mashed potatoes with fish.

In the sequel, however, we're told that the Templar's aren't the problem. Nope, all that conspiracy stuff was just for show.
In reality (the game's reality http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif), the Earth will collapse into itself due to earthquakes caused by the sun. You know, mindblowing stuff featured in entertaining and completely not-worthless movies like this. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hz86TsGx3fc)

And bla bla... What gives? Could others that were left behind in the wake of console gamers give me their opinions, so that I might counter them with additional nerdrage?

Minerva said lived in peace, but the truth vid iplies peaceful for them with "humans" as slaves, so kinda makes one wonder.

Minerva never specifically said that the earth's stability because of the solar flare in 2012 was completely natural. I'm kinda leaning towards that the piece of Eden in orbit will act like a magnifying glass and amplify the solar flares energy. But that is just one possibility, we've just seen two pieces to the puzzle. We'll probably see how the information fits after we learn a bit more from the temples or other memories in later games.

I sure hope the sattelite has some effect on the destruction of Earth, otherwise Ubi's screwed up big time... They already have, but what's the point on pouring gasoline all over yourself when you're already on fire?

Also, what happened with the ASSASSIN gameplay, and ambience, in AC II? 90% of all missions, I found myself playing Mercenary's Creed. With a really odd-looking head model. And boring cinematics (Em I the only one that think AC I deals with those in a lot cooler way, mostly keeping the camera focused on Alta´r unless you press a button during a glitch? I'm not sure how to describe it...)
Same with the conversations while outside the Animus. The camera was focused on Desmond's back 100% of the time, except for when his handsome face was featured through one of the cameras.
That too! How come Lucy looks like a fish-mutant, and Desmond like he's gotten his head mummified?

And before anyone asks: No, I have nothing better to do right now apart from this.
