I play full real servers on HL, and I have yet to find a server that let's you fly an IL-2...

Can someone point me to a server/map?

Oh and do you think the IL-10 will rekindle the love of those planes? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif

Also drop a line into the Fallen Angels homepage at http://www.fallenangels.dyndns.org/ with a request to our map man Cheech and see what he can do

Doesn't PF stand for 'Pee-Fortyseven'? If so, then I fly the namesake all the time. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

The IL2 on WoW is a GREAT ride for the way i fly it. It's the map with the single seat version. I'll go up to about 3500m and B&Z the fighters furballin' down at 2k. Do it right and you can get 3-5 kills a sortie and cruise home while all those pea-shootin' enemies are trying to punch holes in your armor(those cannons RoXorz on early airframes...be sure).

I've gone back home smoking, leaking with holes all over yet made it because the guy shooting at me ran out of ammo and had to give up.

WoW still needs to mature a little as many of the maps are still used for low-level furballs where survival is measured in seconds instead of minutes (much less hours) because the old daisy-chain-furball tends to develope in a certain area and calls all the would-be aces like moths to flame and teamwork hasn't fully matured.

Not a bash against the server (quite the opposite..I enjoy flying there) and obviously survival is more a result of pilot tactics and choices rather than any planeset on a given map, but...if you see an IL2 available, take'er high and blast those bad guys! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/metal.gif

I remember some great fun when 5 or 6 of our squad would saddle up in Il2s in formation and commence to dominate the enemy airbase. Pure base suppression at it's finest! Keep some high to clear our six and the rest to keep 'em on the ground. Only until they were on to our tactic and spawned at the alternate base to counter our assault did we lose the advantage.

You can imagine the surprise and horror of those trying to take on a squad of well-trained Il2 pilots on comms. Man, that was awesome! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well... "NormandieNiemen" Eastfront server righ there.

Just need to have some dadicated Russians aircrafts pilots and some good Axis pilots and some allies.

If someone show interest on this i can make them admins.

Just needs a few more people to join in on the battles. Its usually empty when I want to join. But yeah...IL-2 is definately my thing. As long as the fighter cover can keep me clear...I can whack any target with an IL-2 appropriately armed for the job.

Icefire this is where i spend my time flying around, to me the best of my fav and as well with the team USA on Historia.
I just wish sometime to see some yaks pilots or other russians pilots there and share this passion.

Install the All Seeing Eye software, and it pulls up a bunch of great servers from eastern Europe, and other places that hyperlobby does not. You will see that in many of these the IL2 and other eastern front planes and maps are very popular.
A lot of the really good servers from this area of the world have briefs only in Russian or some other eastern-block language, and some also require a simple registration.
The best run and most historical is the "G1" server.

In short, you have to go to servers that are hosted by those who are actually located in hte part of the world where this sim originated, in Oleg Maddox's backyard.
The big servers that are hosted in the West, are going to naturally be more interested in plane-sets from the west.

Gennadich G1 is the place. Visit their web site (http://www.gennadich.com/g1/en/index.html) for details.

Well I count myself as a Yak and IL-2 pilot. Not a good one but I do fly it alot and do well on UK-Dedicated.

Whenever I want to join the server...its completely empty. I'll have to try at different times of the day.
