How can I prevent my AI flying into the ground while I'm landing?

I used to laugh as my wheels touched down and three simultaneous explosions went up behind me, but have ramped up the difficulty level recently... and now I need their experience. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

If your the flight lead then tab key + navigation + return to base.

Then they will assume their own landing patterns.

Hmmm... we'll see. Normally they ignore me.

As you would expect, given my past disregard for their lives.

This is so true. They rarely reply or follow orders. When they do reply it's never good; "Unable to comply!". This quickly evokes live arms training. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Ther's only one way to help AI. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

If RTB do not work, try with disengage first. Works most of the time.

Logically "Previous waypoint" command should suffice. Maybe "loiter here" also.

If you see that works, then issue RTB command.

Also try changing formation, loosen formation etc.

If nothing of above works, then engage autopilot and you should observe bunch of happy AI faces landing safely. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Actually, if you don't want to waste ammo on the AI then simply tell them to tighten the formation while your are on final approach. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

WARNING: lower volume first if you don't like to hear them simultaneously screaming. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

@fordfan... yes, I thought it was funny too. But I did my laughing offline.

RTB seems to work, obly had time to fly a couple of missions. Too excited with new tv tuner card- now tv sucks on my pc too.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Speaking of saving ammo for the red team, did anybody used to hit "loiter here" on take off in original Il-2? Everybody would try to take off simultaneously, and all you had to do was get out of the blast zone http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ha ha ha, never tried that one. Think I might just install the original and tried it.

Another fun practical joke to play on the AI is in the "Mistle" mission. It goes like this.

When the mission starts wait a few seconds. Don't fly or move down the runway, just wait. Press F2 to get a better view. Just as the 109 are about to pass over you hit your key for "seperate aircraft". It's a slight bug in the game. You 190A8 with drop a few feet and then the mistle explodes.http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Once again, turn down the volume if you don't want to hear the AI screaming. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

I turn the volume up http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

I found a good one, place a few ai's at either end of a runway, then they take off... right into one another!
