I am getting a time out msg, 99.5% of the time I connect to someone's hosted room through HyperLobby. I was NOT getting timed out before the latest or two latest updates. This just has recently started. I have tried changing the MAXLAG to various settings but not sure if that even has anything to do with the ping. I am on a 3.0 dsl modem running through a linksys wired router, I have tried running lone computer on the router to no router and still I am timing out. My ping for some reason on a HOSTED dial-up room as he reported to me on COM was at 2000+... this makes no sense at all why my ping would be so high. I also uninstalled and reinstalled both PF and HL.

DXDIAG RESULTS ARE...
thanks for the info Tully!

I am sure you will probably get more suggestions than this, but here's a couple to get you started.
make sure if using router that port 21000 is open, also make sure that your firewall(s) are not blocking this port either.
Have you had any luck connecting to any rooms thru HL?
Secondly, if you havent done so go here
http://airwarfare.com/guides.htm
and review the guides, I think Luckyboys and the network settings guides might have something that may help you, but if you haven't seen them these guides are an excellemt resource for IL2/AEP/PF

I tried the settings that you (Iron_Hand1) recommended and I still Time Out. Opening port 21000 for PF is for HOSTING only, right? Still no luck as I said, still timing out... any more suggestions? Thanks!
