Let me rephrase the question. GoGamer has it for $49.90 which is nothing short of a rip off. Isn't there anywhere I can purchase just the addon online and not get ripped off?

It has been stated that the last two add-ons, SoM and 46, will be available for download sometime in the future, but the date and price has not been given.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hi Brutal,

remember that 46 isn't manufactured in the USA.
So the addon has to be bought in Europe for Euros (1??? = 1,35$) and delivered by a not unexpensive logistics service (FedEx, UPS, DHL (about 150$ for a 20kg box)) to the US.

You blame GoGamer. What's with all the other stores who didn't ever think on selling it in the US.
You won't get it much cheaper. Rip Off is by far the wrong term.

Depends on perspective. If I can download just the content that I really want then I can skip the shipping costs. I have the complete edition and the pe2 addon so why purchase everything again that I already own? I just want to download the portion that will get me up to date with the latest version and not pay the over exagerated price for it.

There's always the convenience of one simple install, and the fact that <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">Ubi[/b] Soft hasn't seemed to release a whole lot of anything concerning the US market thus far.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ripped off? You're on the edge my friend! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Anyways, the two seperate add-ons (1946 and Sturmoviks over Manchuria) should be available as downloads some time (like the Pe-2 add-on) and will cost as much together as the DVD. I cannot find the exact quote but it was stated on the <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] forums once or twice by Oleg Maddox and/or Ilya Sevchenko. But as far as I know, the downloads aren't available yet.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The UK Ubistore offers the following:

IL2 Sturmovik??? : 1946, 2 DVD set, ??29.99, http://shop.<b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">ubi[/b].com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=442&id=25 (http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=442&id=25)

IL-2 Sturmovik: Pe-2, ??9.99, http://shop.<b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">ubi[/b].com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=386&id=97 (http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=386&id=97)

If each of the two remaining add-ons, Som and 46, are priced the same as Pe-2, ??9.99, then the cost of the three download add-ons will be the same as the 1946 DVD. If anyone feels thats too much, then don't buy it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

So far I have paid
IL-2 34.99
Forgotten Battles $39.99
Ace Expansion $19.99
Pacific Fighters $39.99
IL2 Complete addition $29.99
PE2- addon $24.99

Tired of the BS If you release a complete edition it should be a complete edition. I should not have to purchase the full version of the game 3 times.

I certainly can appreciate Brutal67's gripe. I however will pay for the 46 DVD simply because I would like the entire series on one DVD, that is worth it to me.

The <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">Ubi[/b] US site states a release of Jan 07 for 46, this mean there will be a US version?

If so I may hold out for a few weeks. Besides my plastic is still smokin from the holiday.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Keep in mind that the cost of IL2:46 is close to the cost of each individual add on.... Sturmoviks Over Manchuria & 46 if sold seperately... and IMO the convenience of having everything on one DVD is worth the difference between the two add ons individually and IL2:46 as a whole. I paid @$19 give or take a buck.. I don't remember for Pe-2... and from what I understand the other two add ons were to go for the same price of Pe-2.... so for me the $10 is worth it.... I also paid full price for everything....

$49.99 for IL2
$49.99 for FB
$29.99 for AEP
$39.99 for PF.....

Dont feel ripped off with 46.... you arent paying for the old stuff..... just the new stuff.... and if you are it is miniscule.. If I were in your shoes I would give the whole kit & kaboodle (Or at leats the complete version) to a freind and turn them on... but I wouldnt feel ripped off. If you already had FB,AEP & PF there was no reason to buy the complete version so that was on you.. Not trying to flame you or anything....<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

<span class="ev_code_white">Oleg: I think players should upgrade their PC after the release of Storm of War: The Battle of Britain, but not now. Minimum system would be probably like last year good system for IL-2 series. The simulation has gone from what was to be a study sim involving one aircraft to a real monster anthology of WWII aviation. The engine has been stretched to fit multi-engined bombers, aircraft that are linked (such as the Mistel and the TB-3/I-16 combinations), aircraft carriers, runway cratering, working searchlights, etc.

Initially, I was reluctant to get the 1946 DVD for the reason that I???d purchased all of the previous versions, including the DVD compilation that brought the sim to version 4.04. To be honest, I felt and still feel we got screwed on that one. I was going to hold out for the downloaded add ons too, as I felt I???d bought the game twice to that point. But after reading what was offered by having it all on one disk, not to mention the improvements to the sim with version 4.07, I broke down and bought is again. For the third time. My only complaint is with the 4.04 DVD. I feel we were taken to the cleaners on that one. Live???n learn.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

To simply answer your question, the later add-ons (Manchuria and '46) are NOT available for DL yet.

When they are (which should be fairly soon...no longer than two weeks...be sure) then you'll be able to pick and choose just what you want. Be sure to back them all up though as a reformat or new pc could be a fiasco.

The term 'ripoff' is relative as you say. If you don't buy it, how can it be a ripoff?

I think the complete edition dvd at the time of it's release was going to be the final one we were going to get as i believe pe2, SOM and 46 were only going to be available in Russia, but because of all the fuss we caused about wanting the russian add-ons for the rest of europe 1c and <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">ubi[/b]-soft decided to let us have them (OK released pe2 as a d/load which i'm glad i waited for 46 given boontybox) put all the pevious versions ie FB+AEP+PF and all patches on for FREE so especially for newcomers to the sim can install the whole lot off one DVD! Brilliant, i paid ??2 less for 46 than what i paid just for AEP, its a bargain.

Could you be more specific about which version of Il-2 you have problems with?
I faced computer crashes with 4.071 (random black screens - nothing to do but cut PC power & restart) but I can recover when pasting a previously saved conf.ini file.
Try lower video & audio settings with il2setup.exe in your main Il-2 folder and check pages like those in http://www.airwarfare.com/guides/
