Me109G2? At least in my hand http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif Not only performance wise but even more in handling. I have ab****ely zero problems to ride Me109G2 on its edge (well, most times), but F4 seems to me weird and I cant get grip on her. There is always some "slipping" I cant handle well enough.
Also climb and acceleration seems too poor vs. G2. F4 has DB601N with 1350hp, takeoff weight=2900 kg, G2 has DB605A with 1475 hp, take off weigh=3100kg: dont see any significant diference in powerloading and do see better wingloading for F4...

Actually weights are:

Bf109F4 -- 2850kg
Bf109G2 -- 3020kg

(you cannot really trust data in IL2's object viewer... it's often outdated or simply incorrect)

And yes, I agree that the Bf109F is odd... climb is suspect as well as high AoA behavior

The BF109F4 is the only BF109 I actually like. I think the FM is pretty nice and really cuts it with planes from the same era. Much better than the Spitfires from 41/42 and certain better than any VVS plane from that era. The G2 feels heavy in comparison. Its also ugly.

Badsight.

Maddox Games staff consider the Bf-109 G2 to be the better Messer for DFing

the F4 has in game to much internal fuel.

its around 540litres instead the correct 400litres , like the G2.

it also showes in thier range !

the F4 can fly with 100% fuel at 100% power for 84minutes !!
the G2 only for 54minutes.

sure, the DB605A needed more fuel than the DB601E , but that much ?

It`s not unusual that a model that`s meant to improve upon an existing item/machine/software sometimes turns out worse, forcing users to literally step back to the old version.

the powerloading of g2 was 0.01% better or something tiny.

F4 used to have worse stall behaviour than k4 in 3.x dunno about now

IRL F was the pilots fav, that is absolutley clear

The G2 flies like a spit, the F2, F4 flies like a messer.
The E4 flies like a iron wiht a brakechute.

Remember that the F2 should fly a little better than the F4 because it has the lighter 15mm cannon.

The G2 has retractable tail wheel and other improvements. I find the G2 a better turn fighter than any other 109G.

I love the F4 and the G2.

Just my opinions.

but it also had weaker engine and I don't think that weight difference was signifficant

MG151/20 = MG151/15 re-chambered for 20mm
