Hi Folks,

I own the original IL2 which I am playing now and the 1946 DVD version.

I have two quick questions.

1.) Running IL2 now I feel there is limited navigation aids on the in flight map or with waypoint options and also the campaigns are limited. Can you tell me if the 1946 DVD has so much more in this area ? Can you fly dynamic campaigns? - can you see your home airfield on the map easier and are there more options on the user interface to end missions - return to base etc,,?

2. My system is a PIV 2.5, 1GB Ram, 128 MB ATI 9600XT and SB Live 5.1 audio - will I be able to run the game on medium to high settings ?

Thanks in advance all - jg1234

Hey mate,
It's pretty much the same in terms of the map and GUI. There are lots of dynamic campaigns nd ahandful of default static ones which people say are pretty good. There are also scores of user-made campaigns - both dynamic and static. If you haven't found it alread, here is an excellent site for all things IL2 -Mission4Today. it has skins for your aircraft and pilots, missions, campaigns, movies plus lots of useful advice.

Here are a few of my campaigns if you are interested in Luftwaffe stuff.

Your computer should be able to handle Excellent, probably Perfect settings I'd say.

Cheers.

If you set the difficulty settings to certain settings, then you get big dots on your waypoints and lines showing you exactly where to fly and land.

For a true dynamic campaign for IL2, try Lowengrins DCG :-

Your system will run IL21946 however you really should get on ebay and pick up a new Gfx card. Its almost as easy to fit as putting a game into a Megadrive or SNES and is one of the easiest upgrades you can do. Get yourself a Geforce 6800GT or something similar(I guess you have a 4x AGP slot) which wont break the bank but will allow you to play perfect settings.

As for 'real' IL2 fun, get IL2 1946 and download Hyperlobby, get online with us, its where this game REALLY shines. You will wonder what you were doing on single player. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Its just great fun.
