(not sure if you got my PM, so here it is again)

I have a rather fustrating problem with Boonty: i have the same problem as "Krt_Bong" on the forums where, after downloading/installing the 1946 patch, and turning on the il2fb.exe, boonty comes up and says: "We couldn't identify your transaction" and requests the "website from which you downloaded the product". That question is extremely vague as I have tried all possibilities such as ubistore, boonty games and of course the actual URL where I downloaded the file from: to no avail. It keeps saying that the transaction could not be made.

I would really appreciate help, as I'm getting extremely fustrated by this entire marketing mess...

At the very least could you please point me towards the appropriate customer service system to report to, as I'm not sure where to go with this?...

Thanks!

samolyet

I also couldn't get the game to unlock... they asked me "Use the URL that you downloaded the game from" and I put in "www.ubi.com", which it accepted. BootyBox then says...

We are sorry but an error has occurred. Please renew your order in a few minutes. Ensure your card information is correct, including the expiry date.
If the problem persists, please contact the technical service and tell them exactly what sort of problem you have encountered.

Excuse any inconvenience this may have caused."

If there was a problem with my credit card... wouldn't they have NOT given me a transaction number and an unlock code? Scritching my heed over that one.

Nordo88
01-12-2007, 10:15 PM
ok, I've now gotten as far as you samolyet, I have the exact same problem when I enter in my Transaction ID number...

...Maybe the boonty authentification server/service is down or something?

Copy that, Nordo88... I have the same black screen of doom whilst asking for technical support...
I've done a lot of deep contemplation... some soul-searching... turned it over and over in my head...
... and I think BoontyBox sucks it. ;-)

Same here, got the file with french version of boontybox, but can't unlock the game with the key I've got. Bummer.

I decided to cancel the order and go for the dvd. Lets see if they are willing to return my money.

I've been loyal since IL2 (thru PF 4.05), but this has got to stop. I many call my credit card company and dispute the change. Ubi may lose my business in it's entirety.

I'm frustrated...I contemplated a week before I decided to purchase and download the add-on. Had PF running great with alot of my favorite single/campaign missions.

Ubi is going to lose ALOT more business in their attempts to combat piracy than in supporting the faithful... Just my 2 cents...

Get THIS.

I've also been trying to download the Pe-2/SoM/1946 add-on, and after experiencing the same problems as those noted above (we do not recognize your transaction, etc...), I gave up and tried playing AEP+FB+PF.

Guess what? I CAN'T. This download has seemingly corrupted the other THREE TITLES I've bought from UBI, and now the entirety of the Il-2 series that I've purchased is completely INOPERATIVE.

Thanks, BoontyBox. I'll try to resolve this issue and get my copy of Pe-2/SoM/1946 running, but after that, I'm done with this series.

So, I guess I shouldn't download this then, right? Great customer service by these people. Good thing I read this thread. Being frustrated with the lack of availablity in the US was enough, then finding the french site (I don't read french), someone was kind enough to figure out a work around for that...too bad there isn't an effective one for this little SNAFU.

Thanks for the info folks.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I have had the same problem as all of you. I purchased the game online as an addon from the french website, had to download the god damn game TWICE (it vanished when first downloaded), and then I was treated to the "black screen of death" along with the good old error messages when i tried to enter my key. I'm sending an e-mail to the ubi guys about it....this is extremely frustrating..because now i cant fly at all. Upon deciding to purchase the add-on online, I ASSUMED that UBI would be smart enough to not use BoontyBox for the download operation...but they did. Once I realized that the dreaded BoontyBox was part of the operation, my credit card information had already been submitted.
BoontyBox is by far the worst way to go about the add-on process for Il-2. I'm looking foward to hearing about what you guys heard from UBI. I purchased my add-on Saturday, January 13th, and furiously tinkered with it until 4 AM , January 14th.

Since I couldn't play my "old" PF (merged) after installing Boontybox (it killed it), I uninstalled/cleaned/reinstalled up to PF 4.05. Lost 2 years of 3rd party campaigns and missions. I think I'll just stay with what I've got...I play the game to relax and this BS is NOT relaxing. I'll contact my credit card company and dispute the charge tomorrow.

Sorry to bud in...but you people are obviously paying for the add-on with a credit card or Paypal right??

In my eyes it makes no sense to spend 33 bucks for the lovely BoontyBox problems..especially after the last fiasco about it.

Paying on line and getting the DVD for convienience and reliability would seem like a well spent 14 extra dollars, for the DVD plus your shipping expense.

Was going to order it online, but found it in Walmart for half the US pricce I would of paid.

Maybe you cannot afford the few extra bucks for online purchase and shipping, but waiting a couple of weeks to scrounge up the extra dough would be well worth it, in view of the dreaded Boonty problems.

Maybe it's just me but I prefer simple to avoid **** like this.

I broke down and purchased it via download from the English site; I figured, with luck as crappy as mine lately, it just might work. Well, I downloaded it just fine, I think, but now I can't find it. I got that Boontybox stuff, and 46 was downloading, but when I came back last night, BB was still up but 46 was nowhere to be seen. Any ideas as to where it went?

I can still play previous editions of IL-2.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This is all very disappointing. I too downloaded 1946 using the poxy Boontybox software and have since discovered that not only does 1946 not work, but I can't play PF+FB+AEP without uninstalling and reinstalling. I figured I would wait until Monday to give Ubisoft a chance to fix the problem. Apparently they have not. I have therefore just tried to contact them via their website and have been told that service is unavailable as well.

I have no problems with Maddox Games, to whom I will always remain grateful for developing the game in the first place, but I have over the past few days developed a serious dislike of Ubisoft and its choice of software\customer service. Compare and contrast this cockup with Flight 1's installation process for MS Flight Simulator, for example. Or, for that matter, virtually any download service provided for any product these days. The simple fact is that they should work without all these ridiculous hassles and errors. It's 2007, not 1998.

I too had that problem. For some reason it downloads into a new folder called "My Downloaded Games." Therefore if you installed Boontybox into C:\Program Files, the download will be located in C:\Program Files\My Downloaded Games.

Jesse_reid;

I figured out that problem, but it still won't work. You have to go into C:Program Files/My Downloaded Games. There you should see il21946 or some such file. You may as well wait to click on that until there's a fix, because if you install the game, you won't be able to play any IL-2 games. Boontybox will continue to ask for your code, and you'll keep entering it, and it'll keep refusing it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Red and Jesse,

Before installing the 1946 addon package from Ubi store. You could try this, I didn't but worth shot if you haven't given up on UBIsoft and Boonty Box like I have.

1. Make a back up of your .exe (4.04)and paste them in some where. (Desktop or wherever)

2. Install the 1946 addon.

3. Rename the new il2fb.exe to il2fb.exe.org. It will ask if you really want to do, just click yes.

4. Then take the copied .exe from orginal install and put in there. Should work. Of course I don't think you'll be able to fly the new addon but wouldn't hurt to try it.

Also, I would make a copy of your original IL-2 folder before doing anything.

I also made the mistake of downloading the 1946 addon before I found this forum post, if I had found it before I would not have downloaded it. I have waited all day to hear something, it is currently 8 pm EST (Bootny HQ time), 4 am Moscow time (Developers time), and 1am (Ubisoft time) and still no word on the money that we have spent or the program that we have downloaded. I have unistalled everything and now I am back to v4.04. I did not purchase v4.05 because of Boonty Box and now I will not use v4.07 because of SecuROM and Boonty Box. For all of those who said shut up and buy it any way, all I have to say is, "I told you so. In closing.... "Thanks UBIcriminal"

CrazyIvan, thanks for looking into this. It can't be easy sifting through venomous rants, however justified, by forum users.

EDIT: It's working, it's awesome.

Downloaders should note that when Boonty prompts you for the "transaction number," it's referring to the "unlock key" in the confirmation e-mail. Standardizing the terminology would make the process more user-friendly.

I wish to report similar success to Drive571 - I put the unlock key in the transaction number slot, "just for joke" - (Tarbash, Jerky Boys) and it worked!

Once downloaded I just reinstalled the patch and then put in the new unlock code. Works fine now. I feel your frustration on this one as I have not been able to play for 5 days now because of this issue. Hope you get it fixed.

No biggie man. I'm just removing it all and reinstalling the whole shebang. It's a time waster, but I guess it needs to be done.

I wish they would have resent me an unlock code...<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Ok here is the official answer (sorry about delay got the answer a few days ago but the forums have been up and down):
------------------------------------------------
As you're probably aware already, users encountered several serious problems with the downloadable version of IL2 1946, making it impossible to install the game or play it online. These issues have been fixed and Boonty has made available a new version of the game.

Users who have bought it through this service can now download the fixed version for free. They can use the same activation key to play the game.

----------------------------------------------
Ok so if you are still having problems with the CD key please contact our tech support (who I know have contacted a few people about this)

I have a question: how do you re-download the game? Do you uninstall the original version? I also failed to get a confirmation email once the game had downloaded, although I have two separate codes (an order number and a very long number which I presume is the unlock code), neither of which work. I would contact Boontybox customer service, however when I click on that option the screen goes black.

Hey jesse, feel your pain. I got your back though. Go back to the Ubi store where you got it from, (I think mine was http://shop.ubi.com/), hit My Account, then My Orders, then click on the "Yes" underneath "Shipped?". Then click on "Click here to view this download's information", and download like nothing happened before... But when they ask for the transaction number, don't make the same mistake I did and put in the 1xxxxx order number... gawd I wish they'd be clear on this.

They really mean the 32,768-character long unlock code from that screen. You should get a slightly different interface once it's done downloading and all. I did this and it worked for me, so here's luck to you.

Not calling you stupid at all, though - in the chemistry labs we have to write down everything we did, so that if the experiment works, somebody can reproduce it from scratch. Force of habit. May your game work like a charm.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

If it isn't one thing, it's another. Boontybox sure says the download's done. But when I click on it, it tells me that it can't move the file or some such nonsense.

I can't delete the old download of the .exe file for some reason. There's enough space on my hard drive. I'm sort of at a loss. Any ideas folks?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Glad it works!

Bloody BootyBox. More like BollocksBox. Poor Oleg - he must be taking so much heat for this now, which is beyond his control (I suspect).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I agree completely. As I said in an earlier post, I love the game and shall remain forever grateful to the developers. Also, as somebody else pointed out, kudos to Ubisoft for supporting over the years what I guess must be a niche market. But all that being said, Boontybox is dead ordinary, and really really needs to be improved.
