HI..

I have bought the following system:

Core 2 Duo 2ghz
2048mB RAM
8600GT

I got 4000 at 3dmark06

However, when running PF at maximum (with terrain at perfect) and resolution to 1024x768 withoug AA or withoug AF I only get 30 fps average with ABUSIVE STUTTERING when playing 1 vs 1 on "Pacific Islands" map.

Are these FPS normal? AND THE STUTTERING? Is there any way to make them go higher without loosing much graphics quality?

- Video drivers are updated
- No apps in the back
- Version 4.04

NVidia control panel, set Threaded Optimization to Off....

Should this not help, post this issue and yer DxDiag Report in Community Help forum...

thanks mate! it solved the stuttering!

but still im not happy with the FPS!! here is my test:

Resolution to 1024x768
Settings to MAXIMUM and landscape to PERFECT with water=4
Loaded BLACK DEATH (u know, that famous track) and got average 15 fps with FRAPS...

now tell me... is that normal for a 8600gt with an outstanding processor and 2gigs of RAM???? bear in mind that AA and AF are OFF.

you think is normal? any ways of improving FPS?

Vertical Sync is a frame rate killer on my system. If I want high frame rates I turn it off.

Heres a comparison
Conroe 6400 2.13 gig overclocked to 2.8gig
2 gigs of DDR2-1066
BFG 7900GTX

4X AA
8X AF
Perfect Settings Water=4
Black Death Track Average 70fps With Vertical Sync OFF
I believe it goes down quite abit with Vertical Sync enabled
Personally I don't mind the break up in my cockpit bars as I'm concentrating too much on whats beyond the bars.

no fps upgrade.

IM GETTING 17 fps average (2 fps better) with no AA no AF 1024x768 and water=4 at BLACK DEATH

my computer is the following:

- Core 2 duo, 2ghz

Hi Acersales!

I think that isn't normal.

my system is:

- AMD Athlon 64 3000+
- 1536 GB
- ATI X850XT PE

and I'm getting 19 fps with 6x AA and 16x AF on perfect mode at BLACK DEATH.

Maybe you should post your conf.ini here and other 8600GT or NVidia users can help you further...

Try and use 'Custom' for Video in IL2Setup.exe (Or PFSetup.exe if you're on PF standalone)

And in there, set/check the following options:

Texture mipmap filter: trilinear
Texture compression: S3TC
v Use vertex arrays
v Polygon stipple
v Multitexture
v Combine
v Secondary color
v Vertex array extension
v Texture compress ARB Extension

thanks mate! now im getting average 35fps at BLACK DEATH with 1024x768, max quality, water=4, no AA and no AF... before i got 15fps

Might be...
My Core2 Duo, 2GB, 8800GTS does 48FPS AVG...
(Max is limited to 60 at my rig, due to vSync on, LCD monitor)

Try and tweak it a bit, maybe try water=2...

By trying, you may figure out whát (setting) is making the system 'slow', and maybe then there's some more specific tweaking possible...

35fps average may not be too bad for that rig. What are your min/max frames as well? An 8600 is no 8800. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I too would try water=2 and run it again.

Agreed. . .Black Death is a challenging track so that's probably not too bad an average.

Water=4 should probably be Water=2, and there isn't much loss in IQ in most situations when you do it either.


I have some benches that I ran when looking at various settings with my setup (E6600, 8800GTS 640meg, 2GB DDR2 1000). The first few are the same settings but going from water=4 to water=0. Then it's back to water=4 but down to effects=1, then it's effects=1 and forest down to 2. Then I try the 1280*960 res, and lastly I try a stock clock setting on the CPU.

3.3 GHz, 4-4-4-12 at 917.4MHz.

try removing the semicolon from ProcessAffinityMask=1 in the config. This is usually needed for dual core processors. My FPS doubled after doing that.
