I find it amazing that I will not be able to purchase a boxed version of IL2 Cliffs of Dover in Australia, in fact its simply pathetic that we down under are being offered a digital download.

Is not Cliffs of Dover the next generation combat flight sim for the future? It would appear that alot of time & effort has gone into this sim, with the goal of making it the benchmark of future flight sims & being better than IL2 Sturmovik

So why give people only 1 official option to purchase the sim?

Flight sims are a niche market & probably a small one at that but so what, with a niche market you will get sales. I own 2 copies of Forgotten Battles, Pacific fighters, IL2 1946 & the expantions Battle over Europe & Ostfront.
So its people like me that want a PHYSICAL copy of the sim, not a digital download.

With your current marketing attitude all you do is drive more & more hardcore flight simmers to the modded community.

Seconded, and I can only hope that someone at Ubisoft stops by to occasionally glance at these forums.

Another issue is the price: AUD89.95

That is a 80% price premium over the USD49.99 digital download, and a 60% price premium over the UK GBP35.00 digital download.

Well, looking at some of UBI's past decisions, I'm thinking that it might be Larry, Moe, and Curly Joe.

I suspect UBI Oz are console focused and not really caring about the PC market.

Poor old Hardly Normal... I heard there will be no Boxed version because DVD's spin the other direction... making them useless in the Southern Hemisphere...TIC... Off to the net I go.....http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif.

Hey at least you don't live in New Zealand as we normally have to pay 30% above what you Ozzie sheep shaggers do as well as having less options to choose from. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Is that actually confirmed or has there simply been no release announced?

Ah! Thats either because New Zealand, like the other Eastern suburbs of Sydney is considered quite afluent or that the Eastern States executives of Ubi soft never got over the fact that 'The Hobbit' wasn't going to be made in Movie World on the Gold Coast! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

15 or so years ago I went on holiday in NZ and I got to say it must be one of the most picturesque and friendly places on this plannet! (You just have to look past the Ozzie/NZ jokes - They're basically the same, just subsitue various countries in the appropriate location)

Cheers!

It's not that bad is it? If you get the box it will just be collecting dust in a few months time. I know all my old ones are.

The only problem I have with downloads is that DVDs burnt at home don't have a shelf life like a published DVD and you risk losing your data even after a year.

Ive started a thread at The Sydney Morning Herald gamers forum, please feel free to contribute. Im hoping if enough interest is generated one of the herald`s gaming correspondents make pick up the ball and get better clarification for Australia.

just had a response from EB games (Australia) and apprently the standard version boxed release goes on pre-order tommorrow AEDST (assuming 1. I've read the response correctly and 2. the information is accurate)

release date is loose as well as no confirmation (yet) of the boxed Collector's Edition being available (but I'm sure that one can be worked on http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif )

no price spoken of
