Ridiculous requests IMO

I highly suggest, if your computer can handle it, Battlefield 2.

These requests are unreal and some can simply not be done on this engine.

But like I said, theres always BF2 or BF1942.

Hello pilot, wellcome to the boards.

This sim is dedicated to maximum possible historical fidelity, it is more like (or at least should be considered as) a "virtual WW2 aerial combat museum" than an action computer game.

Incredible amount of work has been put into each flight model, damage model etc etc, and I'd rather see developers add SpitMk1 or Yokosuka D4Y to this sim, rather than turning it into a first person shooter.

You never heard of the 'blackout'? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif Wartime towns and cities were subject to really stringent regulations about keeping curtains closed, and vehicle headlights were obscured to small slits, invisible to aircraft.

"Moving props to feather." - read the manual.

"You can carry your own personal gun." - and shoot yourself when your PC grinds to stuttering halt?

The calculations used in the sim are mostly dedicated to the excellent flight characteristics as mentioned above. Spending processing power on basically pointless effects is not something most of us are interested in - though the up-coming BoB sim is supposed to feature more eye-candy. But it will require bleeding-edge rigs to pick up on it all.

I can appreciate what kind of game you're looking for - but this ain't it.

B.

That would be nice. Or even a wrecking bar would do, or some other kind of melee weapon. I often find myself out of ammo, while the enemy is so close and so beat up that it seems I could down him by opening the canopy and kicking his rudder. But alas, that I cannot do in this game.

Actually some of the points he mentions are valid and would be nice to see such as the bombers etc, also the ability to refly without having to press esc would be nice, I to would love to be able to jump out and enter a replacement plane, please dont poo poo his suggestions because he has mentioned them, that is a bit ignorant.........

A lot of the stuff he mentions like driving vehicle I realise would be not possible due to the way the engine is and game limitations, but different height trees and animals should be possible, remember the Janes Deer http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

34. Mess hall. Afterall, flying can be hard work. Ya need to fuel up. Players should be allowed to go to the mess and choose from a realistic menu for wartime Europe/Pacific.

35. Latrine. Well, a natural consequence of going to the mess hall isn't it? Plus, realistic need for having to go more often in the Pac theater if the player has dysentary. And hey, who doesn't have to take a wiz after a long flight?

36. Pubs. If you're stationed in England it's kinda manditory. Complete with realistic side alley for vomiting after too much drinking.

37. Cigarettes. Everybody smoked back then and dang it we should be able to in the game too!

38. Laundry. Long flights can be a sweaty affair, especially after some hair-raising combat. Naturally your flight suit will get a little ripe if you don't wash the thing now and then. Extra points if you find some local matron to take care of it for you for a few pounds a week.

39. Dancing. Who doesn't like to cut a rug on at night on leave? There should be a decent variety of big band favorites along with the virtual player having different levels of jitterbugging abilities. Also, plenty of lonely local girls to dance with. Players should be wary of the "working girls" though. It could bring a whole new meaning to computer virus. Know what I mean?

I think that without these things this sim is totally lacking in realistic feel for WWII atmosphere.

This one amused me. Ditch in the English Channel and find yourself face-to-face with a codfish!

Plus '633Sqn_Jonah has been swallowed by a whale' would make a change from being 'blown by a tank's gun'!

Cheers!
