If you are like me, and would like to see IL2 supported under Linux (through wine), please take a minute and vote for the application in the wine database, so we may have a bigger chance of the wine developers fixing the bugs related to the mouse input and network.

Here is how:
browse to http://appdb.winehq.org/index.php
bottom left, in the user menu click "login"
create a new account (assuming you dont have one)

Go to the IL2 1946 page here:
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=7102
In the bottom left menu, select one of the empty options ('no app selected') and click on "vote for app".

Please note the top voted app only has 33 votes, and 8 votes lands you in the top 10. IL2 only has.. 2 so far http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Be fair though: only vote once, and only vote if you are truly interested in having IL2 run under Linux.

It works well, except for networking ! So you can only play offline. If Uglykid got that working, i would be most interested in hearing how.

There is also an issue with the mouse pointer not working most of the time, and some other minor stuff that needs fixing like force feedback.

Anyway, IL2 seems like an ideal program to get working under Linux, it uses OpenGL and has very few windows dependencies. Its also the one program that keeps me from ditching windows all together (IL2 and trackIR that is).

Will TrackIR and things like CH Throttle quadrant, CH Control Manager, Saitech Rudder pedals work running Il-2 through Wine?

I'd love to make the switch!

Ditto for me, however Foxy and the Cougar's HOTAS drivers as well as TrackIR and VoiceBuddy would also have to work.

Gaming and a few Adobe progams (Photoshop, for one) are the only things keeping me from a full Linux switch.

Ah yes, Linux, the great dead end.
