For me it's art. What I know about art would fit in a bee's ******. But I love it just the same:

Science.

I know just enough to be dangerous, and to be able to use scientific facts in political debates appropriately, but not very much beyond that.

Been working in the arts for more than ten years now. What I really want to know about is 3D modelling. Maybe then I could finish off that dishy little Mitsubishi A5M that someone started.

HanFreakSolo, you know this joke:

A young man finds an old lamp in a garbage-container. He cleans it and woosh - a Dshinn rises in a hughe cloud from the lamp.
"You set me free. You have one wish - whatever you want, you can have it."
The young man quickly thinks about all the things he'd like to have, but the only thing that comes to his mind is. "I want to travel from America to Europe by car. Yes, I want a bridge over the Atlantik Ocean."
The Dshinn raises his eyebrows. "Look, the Ocean is wide and deep. Just think about the pillars. They have to be kilometers long. It would take a gigantic amount of concrete and steel. And I'd have to make it extremely strong to be able to withstand the rough weather and the continental drift, you know. That's really impossible to do."
The young man thought about the Dshinn's considerations. "Okay, then I want to understand women."
"Would 8 lanes each direction be enough?"

A very lovely picture. Is it van Gogh?

Personally, I wish I knew a bit of gardening. My potted plants always die on me. I love having green living things around me, but I'm abysmally bad at keeping them alive.

Low_Flyer_MkII

That is indeed a van Gogh.

Somebody once told me that art is something created by one person that gives another person pleasure. I thought that summed things up nicely. Covers all angles, I think.

Music, how to read it, write it, play it.

My father was an army band-master (1st Battalion, Royal Green Jackets) and one of the most amazing things I ever watched him do was turn a couple of hundred Omani peasants into a 120 man Pipe & Drum band. Took him a while but in the end they could make the most awesome noise.
