How dare you mention sh-2 now that we are so close to sh-3? I just got over all the trauma,s sh-2 has given me.

Why does everyone hate SH2 so much... Granted it's not the marvel that SH3 is, but it is a fun game, especially after you patch it and install the realism packs.

I play'd AoD yesterday... http://www.ubisoft.de/smileys/22.gif

320x200 Fullscreen on a 22" BTW http://www.ubisoft.de/smileys/3.gif

It would have been pretty funny if Ubirazz had said display was limited to 320x200 and 256 colors to bring back the AoD feel.

Well being oversea's and all, as well as hearing about how SHII dissapointed everyone (with the scripted campaign) made me not want to buy it...

So I have not played a Sub-Sim since AOD, and the last time that was, was like 4 to 5 years ago... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif sad I know...

But im a WW2 game junkie anyhow so ive had other games to see me through since then...

Which makes me ask the question, What the hell is going on with Wartime Command???

I agree.

Right. But the game "as is" in the box is really booring. Those of us who met the game when it first came to the market were really disapointed. There was eyecandy, for sure. But it wasn't really so good, because any FPS had better resolution while showing a far more complicate world.

I.e.: I needed to patch it manually to get water reflections, being the sea for some months just a dark oil surface! Weather wasn't correctly implemented, thought modding a little it was there -cannot understand why all those options were turned off!-, and the DD's were just too eficient for to be realist! Not to talk about the aiming of torpedoes! You could hit anything as long as it were in range http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I asume that being more polished, just having the scripted campaing as a drawback, SH2 would give us better memories. Because with all the work done by the comunity, is a fine game. Maybe just some more weeks of work before going gold!

I am still doing constructive thinggs with my SHII, like chnging the sub's model files so they read something like Bizmark, Landing Craft or T2 Tanker. And changing the sea state in the weather file to 8. Bigger waves in 'storm'! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Go to Program files\ssi or ubisoft\Silent Hunter II\sim\NSSUboat2A and enter the file. You may, may want to copy it if you wish. Now, delete everything in the file and replace it with this :

This should work. When you go into thew sim after saving, you may be a little suprised. On hint - NEVER go to the deck gun or AA guns as itwill make the sim sin. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

yes you can use the deck gun and AA guns. I wonder if we can do this with SHIII, you know, drive a tanker or an Aircraft carrier.
