Napola and Come and See.

They are far from excellent, or perfect movies, but both are powerful movies that are worth your time.

I have seen "Come and see" its a very strange film.

difficult to understand, and in places a bit of a shocker. Dont expect to understand it though.

Oh yeah and its about 3.5 hours long.

Agreed it is bordering n surreal. But the more I watch it the better it is getting to me.

I found 'Come and See' quite extraodrnary. I felt it conveyed the horror and murder that was all too common on the Eastern front very potently, and the art house elements somehow managed to convey the confusion of adolescence within that.

I just can't imagine anything comparable being made in the West; not even 'Cross of Iron' gets near it for sheer emotional impact.

Not sure I could watch it again though.

Come and see.. Great film, is that the one where they are lying in the middle of no mans land with m/c guns being fired over their heads ? The difference being to any other films I've ever seen is that I reckon thats what the film makers ACTUALLY DID, man that was wierd..

I do believe "Come and see" is one of the few films that really shows the true horrors of the eastern front. I have not seen it myself but a friend of mine who is a historian saw it and became so depressed that he felt that the outcome of the war hardly mattered because no horror could compare to this. He is a truly peaceful person and has the deepest disrespect of both Hitler and Stalin.

So be warned. This is a film for the true realism seaker. And realism is pretty terrible. Nothing chivalery about this - just plain butchering of the innocent.

I remember when IMDB used to be "free" and you could actually read the forums. Now you have to register!? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif
