They don't make airplanes like that anymore.

Lucky he didn't end up like this guy! Note the parts of the engine hitting the windscreen.

A speck of dirt on your windscreen could turn into an enemy fighter in the time it took to look round and back again. A little smear on your goggles might hide the plane that was coming in to kill you.

Interesting story but all too common in these parts. We usually don't fix things around here.

We wait for a patch.

If that plane was Grumman G-23 (Navy designation Grumman FF), I must agree with its excellence. There were several of them exported to Spanish Republic in the late 30s and used in the Spanish Civil War by Republican Air Force, as ground attack and strafing aircraft, rebaptised as "Delf??n" (Dolphin). Spanish pilots had nothing but praises for it -and its radio equipment.

I was reading some more tales of Warbys exploits in Malta and the Med. in general and came across a reference to a Spitfire that had done some low strafing runs and found the engine was running a bit rough on the way home. Once back on the ground safe and sound, a closer inspection revealed that he had run into a swarm of those annoying little black flies (anyone in warm climates will know the ones I suppose) and they had mashed themselves all over the propellor causing it to become a little unbalanced, which was causing the roughness!

Somehow I dont think we will get that sort of detail in BoB, but I can imagine in the next generation after BoB that they will have to employ a dedicated person to model insects just like they have a dedicated person doing clouds in BoB, or maybe not... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

I can see the complaints already, the common green darner dragonfly is overmodelled, the monarch butterflies damage model is too weak, the .50s should easily destroy cockroaches by bouncing them off the ground, the dung beetle is porked, the mossies bite is too itchy, Oleg is biased towards the Russian wheat aphid and the peppered moth's flight model is based on inaccurate test information. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Nope, that's not raaid's type of post, he always explains some physical phenomenon (tries to), which mostly are product of his weird imagination, then ASKS if it is possible in real world / in game.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

The official state bird of North Carolina, USA is the cardinal. This species was picked as a compromise, since nobody could agree on whether the mosquito or the cockroach should be chosen. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The Dornier Do-17, another brilliant example of German engineering, a ???Schnellbomber" which could just outrun all fighters, this plane led to the German victory in the Battle of Britain and indeed, the Second World War.
