I don't get it. I know me are messchersmitts. They are the same plane aren't they? Can someone shed some light on this issue?

Me was the constructor: Messerschmit
Bf was the factory: Bayerische Fluge....(CanÔ┬┤t remember that complicated name!)

The Me109 is faster than the Bf109.

The Bf109 ran on diesel fuel while the Me took unleaded fuel only.

No, unfortunately it was prior to the development of airbags.

But the export version of the Bf109 did come equipped with an automatic transmission and power steering.

Cupholders. There were two in the latter, but only one in the former. Also, the ashtray was green in one and gray in the other.

actually the plane that you see on the b/w picture (klick the link below the pictures) has an american Twin-Wasp engine - the Bf109 V21

the modell is the Bf109X, has BMW801

Me: Messerschmitt, as in the designer of the aircraft
Bf: Bayerische Flugzugwerke as in the factory that built the aircraft (Flugzugwerke = Aircraft works for those who don't know any German /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif )

Both are correct terms and they are indeed the same aircraft.
