View Full Version : Nvidia's new Drivers: WOW!

Nvidia's new drivers have a color control for "vibrance" that make the colors in FB stand out even more. I highly recommend the driver for their color control feature alone. Frame rates are same or maybe a little better, but the controls make it worth it.

You missed the three other threads on this? A link is in one of them. I personally think the drivers suck.

When in doubt, official drivers are always at www.NVIDIA.com (http://www.NVIDIA.com)

It's really not hard to find official nvidia drivers. How's this for being simple.

And with 7.60MB coming at 246KB/sec, I like the cut of NVIDIA's jib.

Recon, I have had Nvidias new drivers when they come out, and they have never had a color control setup like this. This is a digital vibrance control page. It has brought out much more color.

Buzz, could you elaborate just a tad more than "sucks"? "Sucks" why? Did they make your system crash? Frame rate go down? I tested my machine with 3dMark03 and got a slight raise.

Really wish people wouldn't just "default" to "sucks" when describing something.

Digital vibrance has been a setting in Nvidia drivers since 23.xx driver set. Nothing new there.

I lost 1000 points on my 3d score. I had already tried these drivers when they were beta, and didn't like them. I was hoping the official ones would be better. They didn't seem to run any game better, and the fps were always lower for me in every game. Does that deserve saying they suck?

what system are you running BuzzU.

The seem stable on my system. They didn't give me anymore fps in cockpit view but when looking around in cockpit view they did. Also they seem to stablize the forrest fps. When i fly around near the forrest the fps always dropped dramatically. FB is set on high for the most part except for object detial that i set on excellent.

Amd Athlon 2000+ xp
windows 98
msi mobo k7t
geforce 4 ti 4200 64ddr
viewsonic 19"
SB pci 512

They were out for awhile for xp versions of windows but not for windows 98. and they're official /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif or atleast i hadn't seen them at guru3d.com or any of the other places i usually look.

digital viberance sure does give the graphics a boost on my system. I just put a little . If i put to much all the signs on the planes look like neon.

What kind of fps do you get with that system. Would like to know cause I'm thinking of upgrading.

Right now I get 42fps in cockpit view looking foward. In OpenGL.

I got video set to high. with object detial set on excellent.

Just curious.

You'd have to give me more detail. What resolution? How much fsaa? What map, and where on the map? What plane?

I've seen as much as 150fps depending on everything above.

Not with those 45.23 drivers though../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Is it me or has the FPS dropped a little after patching to 1.1b?

To make sure, I'm going to reinstall the box game again to get V 1.0, try out a benchmark, then patch it, and try again. I'll let you know.

I'm sure I was getting 49-50fps in cockpit view at 1000m. No lower than 35 or so close to deck.

After patching it's about 41fps dropping to 25 or so near the terrain.

Settings: 1024x768x32bit, video options all maxed except Landscape detail which is 'excellent' not 'Perfect'.

One thing, the rear view mirrors affect FPS noticeably. Also the max FPS seems limited to the monitor refresh rate, 85Hz. Before I could switch the sync off, can't seem to now.

System

AMD Athlon XP2600
Epox 8rda mobo (nForceII)
512Mb DDR400 ram

I play in 1280x960 with fsaa set application. and no anisotropic filtering. Image setting on Quality I play in OpenGL

Just looking striaght out of cockpit in a P40M at about 3000m. and does the map really make that much difference if your not looking down.

I try it in a bit. So your not using any fsaa at all. Application in FB means none. Let me eat supper, and i'll tell you.

Um, yep. Digital vibrance has been in every Det Driver for well over a year. They just moved it to a more prominent location in the setup.

Just did your test while I was eating. You didn't say what settings in the game you were using, so I used excellent. I got 135 fps.
