The 1946 game has finally come down to a price I think payable in my local stores, and I'm considering the buy.

I'm just wondering if you are glad you bought it?

Absolutely.

The new jets are kinda gay, but everyone plays v4.08 anyway, so it's better to be "current".

It's definitely worth it.

I was looking at the box and the German aircraft that looks like a doughnut with a missile sticking through the middle kinda put me off.

The ones that look lie AC wouldn't bug me like that one would. So, I figgered I'd ask.

Installing 1 DVD instead of 4 CDs + 3 downloaded addons.

No question.

The donut-missile can also carry guided missiles which are lots of fun to use.

Aah, you're referring to the Lerche. I personally think it looks cool but from my experience many servers don't have it enabled.

What's that one called, FritzGryphon?

Same one, the Lerche

and X-4 wire guided missile

Also carried by the Ta-183 in the game.

Passing straight over the "gay=rubbish" thing, what's not to like about new planes? They aren't CFS spaceships (Lerche, maybe, it wouldn't flown in RL) and they were free, sort of. You used to be clever and funny, now you're just hostile and cynical, what is with that?

melOdramatic!

I just worry about the kids, that's all.

And why would anyone disrespect planes that aren't going to appear anywhere else?

BUY it, buy it, buy it!!
The Sturmovik 1946 DVD contains all that has been released up until now (except for some extra maps/regions that you can download as patch 4.08), so you must get it.

I don't like the fantasy jet/s too much, but they are a small percentage of all that you can fly. You get huge amount of WWII aircraft to fly, so if you are intereseted in this peiod of time you will be happy with your purchase. The aircraft also fly mre realistically than in any other sim (this is of course debatable http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif).

You won't be sorry if you get the game.

I'm not too fond of fantasy aircraft either, especially in a sim that touts itself as the ultimate in realism (how can you have a realistic flight model from an aircraft than never left the drawing board? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif ) , but the convenience of a single DVD vs. three CD's and a bunch of patches is worth the price. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif
