I was quite shocked when I found out a few days ago when I was reading the wiki. Why does the author of the novels take so many liberties? And if he consulted the writers about it why wasn't it in the game? It would have been a great and very sad moment.

It was barely addressed in the novel either - it was sort of like: "this happened and this happened, oh and Maria Auditore died".

Perhaps they're saving it for another repressed memory in Revelations.

Wasn't she more towards the end in Brotherhood though? Or was that before 1504?

Likely because Maria isn't important to the story at that point. Why detract from the pace of the game/book by making this big emotional passage about the death of some women who gamers haven't seen or heard from for years in-game.

Well we barely saw Christina but it was still sad when she died

To be fair, Maria must have been quite old. Ezio is nearly 50 in ACB, and he was Maria's second child, so she must be at least late sixties... that's pretty old for people of those times. Leonardo died at the age of 67, I believe.

I agree with what's been said about her not being important to the plot. What would have been sadder would be to see Claudia's death, seeing as she and Ezio basically became distant but then made up after he killed the Banker. Oh, and then she became a proper assassin. Yeah, her death would be an interesting possibility in Revelations, though I doubt we'll see it. As for Maria, I wouldn't be surprised about her being in a repressed memory...

Isn't it nice how killing people brings families together? Maybe its an assassin thing, because it doesn't work for me http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif
I expected her to die in Revelations, but I'm supprised to find out she died in Brohood without any mention, or more than 5 lines throughout the story (disregarding the courtasan side missions).

Requiescat in Pace Maria Auditore.
