Well a good starting point would be "The Encyclopedia of Aircraft", 2004 Amber Books. 2007 edition published by Barnes & Noble Inc. Authors: Rober Jackson, Martin W. Bowman and Ewan Partridge. ISBN-13:978-0-7606-9677-1 ISBN-10:0-7607-9677-7

It's a very general book (military and civil planes from the start of aviation to present) but has very good overviews of the WW2 fighters. It's a good starting point and has some good photos.
