hi there,

Sure we must have them all like the B-24,beaufighter and a stinson for fun!

Not bothered.

I'd never join a club that would have ME as a member!!.

No.

I think the spit should appear in a stand-alone future development of this game based on the Western European front.
ie Battle of Britain and North Africa scenarios.

Sometime in 2004 would be a dream come true.. taking off from Tangmere and hunting over the Channel.

hi,

defenitly YES!

XyZspineZyX

YES

Two reasons why it should be included:

1. 1,371 Spitfires were delivered to the Soviet Union as Military Aid. This compares with 2,952 Hurricanes and 2,397 P40s. As far as I can tell, there were only 195 P47's delivered, which begs the question as to why the Spitfire is omitted.

2. With the inclusion of a Mk1 Spitfire and Map of Northern France/South East England, Oleg has virtually all he needs to provide a viable Battle of Britain add-on. Addition of a Do17 and flyable Ju88s and Bf110s would be better, but the elements are already there. This would act as a base for a further add-on opportunity to extend the maps into France and simulate the Normandy landings and Battle for Europe, bringing in the US aircraft already modelled in FB.

The Battle of Britain was very important to those of us who live on the island. It would be a real treat to be able to fly it in IL-2. CFS is fine but...you know.

From a business standpoint, no.

Using the current FB engine, Ubi could make an entirely new game (35 bucks) featuring Western Front planes like the Spitfire and a 110. Personally, I would rather see a fleshed out BoB release than a few token add-on planes to the current game.

Can't fault your logic Stubby. I'm happy to take whatever I can get if it means I get to fly a Spitfire!

At least Mk I should be done. The Finns shot so many of those down that not including it in Finnish campaigns is mocking history.

Absolutely and most definately it should have been here. It is sad the plane was not added it played a huge role in this part of the war.
American and british pilots flew it in Europe long before the P-40 or P-47 came into the theatre of operations. I say long before because it was the main fighter of the Eagle squadrons.

Mr.EyesPink

You don't think the Spit should be in the game? Why? How about the Mig3U?

For all who missed the update, there ya go /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

It's not in game yet, and as we havn't seen it in a dev update I don't think Oleg even has it yet. However, Biggs says the external is almost done and he is starting to work on the cockpit. (I think /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif )

Wasn't there an identical thread about 6 pages long, the other day?

To answer the questiion...yes.

The Russians had them as pointed out above. Should have been there to start with.

I can't understand the people that say 'No'. Why not? You can't argue against on historic grounds. They were there.

How can you logically argue against on other grounds....if it's ok to have P51's, P47's Zero's, B1's, B17's then why not Spits.

The only anti-argument is an purely emotive one such as "I don't like Spis, they suuuuuck!" As I've seen posted. And, simply not liking a plane is not a very good rational reason for not the software developers not to include it.

Hi guys!

In my opinion, if an aircraft served on the Eastern Front in significant numbers (and over 1,000 is definitely significant), then there is reasonable justification for its inclusion.

This applies to any type, not just the Spitfire.

For me, an a/c that served in the order of 1,000 or more deserves inclusion more than ANY other that served in token numbers only.

Just my opinion, but that's what I'd like to see happen.

Best regards,
panther3485

No! There definitely shouldn't be a Spitfire. In fact Ubi Soft should sell a take-away that will remove planes from the database until only the Me-262 and the TB-3 are left. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Oh my God. I hadn't seen that picture of the Spits in game before. I... I think I've just come.

Ahem.

Anyhoo, if, as the development updates would seem to suggest, Oleg's going to expand FB into the Western Front 1944, there's no conceivable way it can be done without later model Spitfires. Leaving them out would be like doing Operation Barbarossa without Bf-109s.

XyZspineZyX

Of course there bloo*ywell should be. People who whine about it are pr*ts,,,,,,, period. Trouble is you are such pr*ts you dont even realise it!! And before anyone starts flaming me about about my un-anylytical answer I dont give a flying f*ck about your opinion either.

in order to have air superiority, the range of the Normandy landing was determined by the range of the Spitfire ( the most numerous allied fighter at the time )
