I have (hopefully) fixed all the reported problems with True Pacific DGen. If any new ones crop up, please let me know so I can fix them ASAP.

Readme
0.08
Bug Fixes
1. 318th FG campaign crashing when going from Pearl Harbor to Marinanas
2. No USN escort missions in carrier campaigns
3. Coral Sea Escort mission crash
4. No USN non-CV anti-shipping strikes in Midway
5. N1K2 not showing up in Defense of Japan

Enhancements
1. Changed Rufe Tulagi campaign to pre-Guadalcanal bomber intercept campaign (as is historical)
2. Guadalcanal Invasion campaign improved (Japanese template, correct OB, correct skins)
3. Edited most carrier campaigns to reduce as much as possible the "30 mile final" (because of how DGen does carrier and antishipping missions, this is problem cannot be eliminated completely).
4. Added USMC campaign covering the defense of Wake Island before the Hiryu/Soryu carrier strike
5. Added Eastern Solomons campaign (correct air OB, task forces forces semi-historical, based on default Santa Cruz template)
6. D3A1s and sBD-3s have correct skins in Santa Cruz
7. A6M2-21s and D3A1s have green skins in Marianas
8. Reduced air OB numbers in .dat files 50% across the board (allows the player to have slightly more influence on the campaigns, and brings air OBs in line with ground and ship unit density)
9. Ar-196A3 (as a stand in for the E13A2) added to campaigns featuring IJN cruisers/battleships as appropriate

Nimits, What kind of system specs do you recomend for these campaigns? I tried an earlier version (0.04 maybe?) and the Pearl Harbor Mission was unplayable due to low frame rates, whereas on the stock campaign there was no problem, and I'm wondering whether I've screwed up the installation.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Well, I built it on my computer (AMD 64 3500+, 2 GB RAM, Geforce 6800GT) and tested it on my computer. Plus, I did increase the numbers of ships and aircraft for some campaigns to better approximate reality. If your specs are significantly lower, then some battles may unfortunately run more slowly.

I was afraid of that, I guess I'll have to stick witht the stock campaigns until I build my SoW:BoB rig sometime next year.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Can't seem to generate a working P47 campaign for Japan, June 1945. I get the map with no course and no text in the window. If I click on arming nothing happens and for fly it loads only to say it doesn't have the map file.

P51 version works but no text inthe window.

USN fighter Wake October 1943 won't generate at all

USMC fighter defense of Wake Island 1941 worked<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Wake Island was missing a a squadron (USA_BG_011z) from the OOB.

As for Japan, I am not sure what to tell you. It is generating fine on my machine, with both the P-47 and P-51. Could post the DGenError.log you get after a Japan campaign?

(P.S. If you have a campaign fail to generate, and then generate a good campaign after that, DGen will often display the briefing screen from the previous bad attempt).

So where do I get that squadron and where/what is OOB?

Fired the game on a fresh reboot, generated a P47 campaign with no map or text, click on fly I get...

K... looking at the Wake2.db file I think I understand if that means adding this string to the rest of the US string and following by the example of other files? That didn't work. I also tried variations there of and get just the same old response...

Well, the campaign in question is actually Wake3.db, so you might try putting it there . . . http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Just paste the text in quotes over the current OOB section of Wake3.db

Wake3..? But your mission set doesn't have that file... I guess that means this was an original IL2 error.

It works http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Back to the P47... any help appreciated and thank you for your effort...

I ended up having to regenerate my careers due to my error in setting up the difficulty and when I did this Japan scenario with the P51 I had similar errors. I rebooted the game and it took. Nothing has changed for the P47. Hate to think I have to play the PF IL2 to drive the thing.

Alas, about the only thing I can think of is reinstallation, please not again, but if I do that then it would also seem prudent to remove what ever from the registery. In trying to get my old PF careers working I know I did something bad because that also prevented me from seeing your new missions so I did a new fresh install just to be safe. About the only thing I can think of is I somehow messed up the registry so things are seen as a PF build rather than FB+AEP+PF but then you would think your stuff would have a problem?

Question on that mission... in PF the map does not show a take off or landing point, you start in the air and when you return you go off the map and everybody is flying in circles at some point. I have been landing on the island instead but my mates end up missing.

I am sure I am missing somthing rudimentary http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Lsat night I couldnot even load a working P51 career and then it mysteriously worked again.

Two questions:

What files did you modify for this campaign?

Please point me to a good site or link that would educate me on these files. I am wondering if replacing your japan1.db file with the original is a valid test but don't know if other files were modified as well for this campaign.

I uninstalled IL2 DVD

I removed everything except PaintSchemes from that directory. Install game and user directory, delete campaigns.ini for a fresh start, test P51 and P47, pass.

Made a copy of the Dgen and Campaigns directories.

Install True Pacific, test P51 pass, P47 fails.

install old version of Japan1.db

No change so there must be another file...

The dgen- campaign directory and campaigns.ini were deleted with each test.

I downloaded a fresh version of True Pacific. reinstall, no change. Mine came from the AceCombat site. Maybe one of the files has been corrupted?

I deleted Dgen and installed my Dgen DVD copy, all worked fine again. If it means anything the plane selection is a P51 or P47 while the canned version is P51, 2 P38s or a P47 D27.

I tried downloading over at the other site you posted but like the last time either their site is messed up, too much traffic or there is some sort of blockage between me and them... takes forever just to get a page to load and either tells me to redo the app or now tells me I have not registered, not recognizing user name/pass.

The only changes I made to the Japan campaign that I can recall are to switch the P-47D-27 to the P-47D (Boosted) and remove th P-38Ls. (I also updated the OOB for new IJN aircraft a couple of patches ago.

Out of curiosity, do you know which version of DGen you have?

Nope, that one is my fault (funny that I missed it, 'cause I distinctly remember playing a mission in that campaign before release 0.08 . . . bad QC on my part I guess).

Look for the entry

IJN_AG_801z

under [Squadrons] in the Guadal1.db, and add A6M2N to it, so it looks like:

IJN_AG_801z A6M2N

That should fix it.

And as for the DGen.exe, for reasons unknown, Maddox has stopped including Dgen upgrade in patches (at least the interim ones, I have no idea about the 1946 edition), so you have to download the updated DGen.exe separately.

RichardFF

How do I recover that career? Isn't there a line item I can remove in a file to replay a mission?<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Minor note for Nimits:

I'm at mission #6 in a Wildcat career; its at Coral Sea I believe. Both of the friendly (USN) carriers eventually overrun their escorts during the course of the mission, crashing into them and causing all four ships to sink. No home to return to ... is this an object placement bug?

Edit: I just looked at the ReadMe in the opening post. I think I installed 0.08 -- I downloaded from CombatAce last week -- but I'll check again to be sure.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

As you can see from the debrief, the collisions occur about 15 minutes into the game, before bombers even cross into enemy territory.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hmm. A puzzelment. The ships in the .mis file are all set to the same speed and far enough apart, with a plotted course 2 hours long, so there should be no problem, yet from the screen shots the Carrier are ovbiously overtaking the escorts about 30 min into the mission.

I'll have to look into this further. Are you seeing this with any other carrier battles?

If you can't replicate the problem on your end then maybe the download I have has an old file w/ the bug? As I said before, I got it from CombatAce.com.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
