I have been doing some research on the TBM Avenger trying to come up with a good loadout for the 1/32nd scale Trumpeter kit I have bought. In doing some reading I have come across a couple diff loadouts which would be nice to see in the future, especially if a future flyable is on the way.

The list of load-outs is as follows:

1: 6x 100 lb. frags AND 6x 100 lb. incendiaries

2: 4x 350 lb. depth bombs (Anyone have a pic of these? Probably have to scratchbuild these. But I need a picture.

3: 1x 500 lb. g.p. & 5x 100 lb. frag clusters & 5x 100 lb. G.P.

4: 12x 100 lb. incendiary OR frag (same as 1 but all 12 of one type.)

5: MK X & MK 25 Magnetic mines(need pics as as well)

Which then brings me to a question:

Anyone know what a "Molotov Breadbasket" looks like?? From reading it is similar to an incendiary but bigger?

Any help in either pics or info would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks,
Mjollnir

I have upon further reading came up with the idea that a "molotov breadbasket" is in my mind 12x 100 lb. incendiary.Molotov=Incendiary and breadbasket=one dozen. If anyone knows better or has proof that this is in fact one heck of an incendiary(perhaps a 2000 lb.?) please lemme know.
But c'mon guys especially the torp plane advo's ya hafta press for these "Historical load-outs".If only for "A.I." I need better screenshots!!
These ARE BTW historical load outs.
These planes are way more capable than a faulty MK XIII a few rockets and a couple 'o' bombs!!

HEY 1-C: PIMP OUR TORP PLANES!! A tisket a tasket,Howsbout a molotov breadbasket!!

I built the monogram TBF Avenger in 1/48 scale eons ago and it came with the depth bombs and IIRC 1 torpedo and iron bombs.

Hey 1-C:PIMP OUR TORP PLANES!! Just give us an idea of WHEN!!

EDIT: @ Akwar:
yeah this is 1/32nd scale and all of the photo etch, resin and all after market kits are 1/48th scale. It has mass photo etch but I still need some stuff that I have only seen in smaler scale.I cant even begin without those either. Which is cherry cuz I need some edumacation on da turkey!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Lots of detail there.

Ya know after a few thoughts I believe I am gonna give a try at structural modelling and build this one with an X-ray view that from one side you will see the plane fully skinned with wing folded and from the other it will be "totally structural skeletal delight, depicting the stations with wings extended for flight!!" eat yer heart out Homer!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif
A MASSIVE undertaking but in about 18-24 months we shall see this beauty!!
I'm off for structural blueprints!!
"Thats on E-Bay!!"
Well atleast they had them for the fw-190.f4u-4 ,spitfire, the spirit of st. louis.. the frikkin Hindenburg?? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif etc.etc.etc.....

HEY 1-C: PIMP OUR TORP PLANES!!Bet I finish mine 'fore you do!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif

That's very ambitious! In the meantime you can read a war story from a TBF turret gunner:

http://ussessex.bravepages.com/fortress.html

Here's a link showing a 1/48th scale Avenger being built:

http://www.accurate-miniatures.com/builds/avenger/html/avenger001.htm

Yes that story jives with what I am currently reading.
And it seems that the pilot had control over his landing gear. He could extend it 1/8th,1/4,half or any combo in between as use as airbrakes.
In the book I am reading a pilot pulled alongside of a Japanese fighter who was out of ammo thinking the Avenger was harmless and let his rear turret gunner work over the Tojo!!
Thats awesome!!!
BTW: no luckon structural blueprints!! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Hey 1-C: PIMP OUR TORP PLANES!!Got any blueprints???

The Accurate Miniatures 1/48th scale TBF-1C came with depth charge bomb loadout. Find one of those, or see if you know someone who has one and isn't going to use it.

There's an excellent article in

http://modelingmadness.com/reviews/allies/us/tc/cleavertbf.htm

today about building that Trumpeter kit.

cheers

I knew I once made a kit of this model ....
The kit:

It's ordnance:

@Horseback:
Thanks for the link. But because of the whole ..well you know..I have acquired a bad taste for Grumman.
I went with the TBM just cause of that. Well the rockets, the fifties.etc.etc....

But the reviewer of the kit is right, it is one heckuva kit and it is big enough to do what I have in mind for it.
I have seen after market kits that enables the operation of flight surfaces through the actual stick.Although I have never attempted it I believe I will try on this big beast! Now to find one in 1/32nd scale!!
But lights will most definately be incorporated on this one.
Atleast something to keep me busy until the day when it is released as flyable in this or in another sim. Preferably this one! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
But for real the main intent of this thread is to get loadouts that are historical to be applied to all the torp planes U.S.,British,Luftwaffe and I.J.A./N.
It just seems like it would be plane defeating to only arm them out with what we have; flyable or A.I.
And it also seems that alot of armament in regards to different bombs are just not present.
So Fool if ya have some interesting load outs for that Betty, Come off 'em Barney!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

HEY 1-C: PIMP OUR TORP PLANES!! I've plenty of time!!
