I and many others have been waiting for years for this fps sim to be finished. I can't wait to buy it when it is released in the states. TIR works in this game too...very cool for a fps.

I bought mine a few weeks ago, but my machine just can't handle it. Guess it'll be on the shelf until I upgrade.

I've read that the AI has a lot of problems. Watching that clip seems to confirm this. Anyone else notice that one soldier in front of the BMP stand up face first in front of the autocannon as it was firing?

Yup that game is gonna rock! Hey those who bought it via Europe is there much difference then buying a game in the states? IE english setup stuff like that? What about a patch?

If you are only interested in offline single player then avoid ArmA like the plague. It has awfull AI and extremelly badly designed missions and campaign.

I have the game, and although it was buggy in the first versions, its much better now.

Its a real joy to play with the 1.05 patch.

It still has bugs, but in such a ambitious project, its only to be expected. If they had tried to get rid of every bug the game would never have been released. Its so big that to test every possible situtaion is impossible. It has almost as many possiblilites as real life, in that you can do anything/go anywhere.

There is no game like it, and to miss out on it would be a real shame just because of the bugs. Patches are being released often.

If you like Tekken 9 and Ridge Racer 12 then dont buy it, but if you love Dues Ex 1, Halflife 1, IL2, Oblivion, Counterstrike,Hideen and Dangerous 1/2 Opflashpoint 1, etc then its a must get, regardless of the bugs.

BTW if you didnt knwo, its Operation FLashpoint 2 in all but name. The developers had to it because Codemasters own the Opflash name.

Don't avoid it if you are an offline player! Out of the box the campaign is fairly bugged but patch 1.05 cleared all the major bugs up. Some of the single missions are quite fun to play with lots of variety and playing early ones unlocks more. BUT the real fun is found when you start to play with the user made missions and campaigns which are generally excellent. The "Perpetua" campaign in particular is outstanding and completely blows the stock campaign out of the water.

I can only say AMEN! to that. I'm a big fan of realitymod. I haven't touched vanilla BF2 since I tried the realitymod.

Il-2 and realitymod are the only 2 games I play.

I can highly recommend Armed Assault; I own it from the very beginning (November release in Germany and the Czech Republic) and it was awfull buggy in 1.00).
Now it is a whole different game and the things comming with the future 1.06 sound great.

It is probable that the american version will be 1.06 and that the rest of the world will get the additions via download - it happened this way with the european release where all of europe recieved a game on version 1.04 and then a patch was released immidiatly that brought all version s on 1.05 for the world to have one instance of ArmA.

Its way more realistic then any other FPS whilst beeing still playable as a game; don't expect a Tank and Helo sim but expect a game that gives you a living battleground with a degree of realism that f.e. makes the players without joystick step back from flying Cobras and Blackhawks or directly punishes lone wolf characters that try to go against the enemy on their own.

Its worth the while!

been playing ARMED ASSAULT for a few months (bought the german version online, and patched to english with a mod)

its not "OPERATION FLASHPOINT 2"

two reasons...

1. codemasters owns the "operation flashpoint" name not bohemia interactive. since BI, and codemasters have split up, BI had to have a new name. even though they are the creators of what we know as "OFP"

2. this is basically an operation flashpoint years later heavy "upgrade". call it OFP 1.5 if you wish.

they ARE working on the "OFP-2" part. many gamers just call it "game 2" for now, since "OFP" cant be used.

but the problem is that CODEMASTERS liked how well the original OFP did...so they are retaining the name they gave it...and are coming out with thier own sequal as well! (which is not the one being done by BI.

this reminded me of the Championship Manager / Football Manager fiasco. Hope the one who keep the namesake doesn't detroy it at the end http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Its the next game from Bohemia Interactive, who made Opflashpoint 1.

The engine used for ArmA is an upgraded Opflashpoint engine from the makers of Opflashpoint 1.

Maybe I should wait for the US release instead of ordering the UK version. Or perhaps there will be a free addon patch or something to bring all version current with one another. Anyone?

HuninMunin

Definatly.
The A-10 and all other US version goodies will be in a patch for the earlier released versions -
BIS want a global community and have proven so in the past.

The Su-34 f.e. was contend of the 1.04 (UK and rest of europe) release but was added in the 1.05 patch for the Czech and German editions.
They just made 2 patches, one big for the 1.02 crowd an a smaller one for the 1.04 crowd.

So if you dont want to wait there will be no things you miss out.
