How will we be travelling in the sequel?

I've heard you can travel by boats. But hopefully there will be still horses =)
After this we also got the glider (just in a level at least).

So what else do you think we'll be travelling with?

i think a horse has been confirmed but don't know about any other transportation yet...

The boats probably won't get your far, just around inside a city. I think its a safe bet that horses will make a comeback, theres no reason for them not to. The glider probably won't work outside cities, just on that one level in venice.

Considering theres an economy, you might be able to pay for a coach between cities, like fast travel.

It would be insane not to include the horses, as they already work. So yeah, I think it's a very safe bet to say horses are back.

i think it would be cool to be able to ride boats through venice, or have a coach to go to other cities... that would be a lot of fun...

I'd bet it's a combination of boat for getting around cities and horse for traveling to other cities.<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Originally posted by Sypron:

Basically you'd be wasting your money.

Yes, but the mission structure has changed, hasn't it? Now you don't start every mission from a stronghold in the mountains. They may have decided to remove free fast travel as an incentive to get players exploring the country side.

LaurenIsSoMosh
06-08-2009, 08:38 AM
The incentive should be the fact that there are houses you can enter, side missions you can take on, and bunches of flags with rewards to find.

Charging money for a coach would be more of a punishment for fast-traveling rather than an incentive to get you to explore.

Hey now, it was just an idea.
If they do add in all the stuff you mentioned then I'm sure that will be enough for anyone. The flags, I believe, have already been confirmed.

I'd say that you'll probably be using horses for intercity travel, and boats for internal city travel. Possibly horse drawn cart/car also for intercity.

They better add a way for me to find the the few last flag.

I'm stuck at:
99/100 flags at Damashk
98/100 Kingdom flags
95/100 Templars killed.

I read this on FYTJ's blog, "Looks like there will be a few missions in the present and drivable boats at some point." and she read it from a Gametrailers interview.

still, don't know whether you'll have to pay for it.

And IMO, I thought horse riding in AC1 was perfect. Compared to something like oblivion where it was beyond terrible, it seemed like the God of Horse-y...ness. GOODNESS!

edit: any word on being able to ride horses within city walls?

Horse combat was in the game? You can take out your sword and do drive by swings. I always did it to the four people walking towards Masyaf.

In these larger Italian city I kind of expect there to be large thoroughfares. Large enough for horses. Would be good... for me.

revoltingbunny

A.) getting into fistfights with horses, or

B.) Having mounted enemies that you have sword fights with while riding. Fight off boarding parties, kill the crew, loot the horse, etc.

Choose what I meant carefully. Because one is less crazy than the other.<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">In these larger Italian city I kind of expect there to be large thoroughfares. The horse's normal speed is faster than the enemies can run at full speed. So you could just hop on your getaway horse and lazily trot away while they're running as fast as their little legs can carry them.

If you wanna escape, you should have to keep on your toes. Literally. XD

revoltingbunny

I agree with Lauren... if you could take the horses in the city you get get as much attention as you want from the guards and not care, you'd get bored so easily because no one can touch you.

If there were more people ridding horses inside the city, maybe we wouldn’t get much attention from the guards, but we were going to hit the guards, and they would be always coming after us. I hope we can control the boats, instead of having a guy doing it for us. About the kingdom, they made changes to make it more attractive, so they won’t want us to use fast memory forward.

Well if they made it a little more realistic it wouldn't be a problem. Citizens should make efforts to move out of the way of a horse, just like pedestrians stay of the roads and let the cars use them.

The idea of attracting to much attention to yourself, well. I can't think of any way you can be subtle on horseback. Perhaps if there were enough other people on horses entering the cities it would be a little less suss to see Ezio riding in.

nox_umbra
06-12-2009, 10:09 AM
Well personally i would like to see other citizens and gaurds riding horses in the country-side (maybe even carts or carriages) just so the atmosphere becomes more realistic, plus more of a challenge to lose guards, and more ways to get money from rich people, 'Stand and deliver http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif'

Also it'd be great if they stop guards attacking you when you just trot past them; lots of people would have ridden places, maybe even galloped, i hope they change the ai here.
