If I remember correctly, there won't be night/day cycles like in Oblivion, but there will be night and day when the mission calls for it.

i would like to have night but still would prefer day time..there's more details and more attention to objects, graphics..and it would fit the
"crowd assassinations" http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

I was thinking that at night you could do like in Splinter Cell some places. Hide in the shadows, and do things a little quieter than you normally would and such. But then again, it's maybe a little hard to do that with a white robe. Maybe he could have a special black or grey suit for night time missions?

I never thought of this! but i would love for this to be included, jumping from roof to roof in the dead of night praying on your target http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/icon_twisted.gif

Night would probaly bring more guards to important people during a time of war. Public assassinations might easier because they aren't ready for them.

I highly doubt there won't be night and day in this game.

I agree the realism part of AC would suffer enormusly if day/night cycles wasn't added.
Ofcourse the public assassinations would be rather impossible then but if there is some "sleep" option like in the elder scrolls series added it would work anyway.
A wait option like in the elder scrolls series would be great to.

Maybe they will do it GTA style where you can only complete certain missions during a certain time of day.

I agree there should be day and night, if not then it will be dull. It would be great if it rains in the game with stroms<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Can anybody post a link to Developer commentaries on Day/Night cycles?

I haven't found any, and I consider myself well read on this title.

I agree that they are needed to keep the game's realism and immersion factor (since it is in a sandbox, or so they claim), but it also seems like real, Oblivion-esque, cycles would be hard to pull off in this game. That's a lot of extra AI code to keep up the realism.

The thing about night and rain and stuff like that is that in the past game devs used to use those to cheat on graphics, making things less visible because they didn't have the hardware to make it pretty.

The thing about AC is that it's so beautiful in the day time, and now with next-gen hardware they're able to truly do beautiful daytime graphics and not hide anything (a first up to this point, and therefore truly different). AC is a beautiful-looking game, and with that beauty I think I'll be immersed enough just seeing everything as I move past.

Plus, part of AC's amazing immersive qualities are based on crowd-interaction. The thing about rain or nighttime is that you wouldn't have the crowds, and it wouldn't be realistic to put them in. Without them, the game would lose a huge part of its strength and it wouldn't be as fun.

I doubt there will be cycles of night or weather like Oblivion, just because crowds (and your target) would have to act accordingly. But I'll bet that what they have scripted in terms of this stuff will totally be immersive enough, and pretty darn stinkin' beautiful to look at as well. I'm still excited, because you can bet that whatever we're going to see has never been done before.

aww man, Altier would look so awsome if his robe thing was like water drenched from a storm with AC's sweet graphics.

There probably wont be any night. Jade made an implication about that during her interview with G4.

nope no night and day it's been confirmed you are stuck to the timeframe that the assassination takes place in and that's what was clearly stated in an interview somewhere i've watched so many interviews i dunno where they are now so i can't quote anything anymore after my computer crashed http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

oh and by the way this thread is kinda old http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif
