I think what you are probably looking for is .Mission for Today (M4T) (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php), as in my sig.

Forgot to ask, any recommendations? I play offline mostly, I tried playing online but usually just got shot down over and over and over and over. Had good fun, but that gets old. So my skill level is average at best. I usually play with realism settings relaxed.

There's a Me 163 campaígn called "against overwhelming odds" I'd really recommend.

Anything by Extreme_one.

Hurricane season

Anything by Icefire.

Ok I got FlatSpinMans Afrika and France campaigns going now, they're great. Also got a Lerche campaign going as well. This should definitely hold me over for awhile. Also downloading tons of skins too.

DmdSeeker, is this the Me-163 campaign (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=770) your talking about? This was all I could find for the Me-163. Am certainly looking for more 46 type campaigns since there wasn't much in the stock 46. I dled the mig alley one but haven't tried it yet.

Damn this site is a absolute treasure trove, wish I had known about it a few years ago.

Thanks again guys.

Yeah, M4T is an awesome resource for offline players. In addition to the recommendations above, I also recommend Phil K's campaigns (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=576), and Vpmedia's campaigns (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=152)

White Sun, Blue Skies, the story of the Flying Tigers, could be the best user made campaign of them all.

No, that's not the 163 campign I was thinking of, this one is;

* Against Overwhelming Odds *
=============================

An historic campaign for the Me163B 'Komet' by Dunkelgrun.
For IL-2 Sturmovik Forgotten Battles Ace Expansion Pack, patched to version 2.04

Welcome to my first campaign, I hope that you enjoy it.

To fly the campaign start IL2:FB and go to - Pilot Career - New - Germany - Against Overwhelming Odds, and start as a Leutnant.

THE CAMPAIGN
------------

I have endeavoured to make this campaign as historically correct as I could. The campaign begins in 1944 with training at EKdo16, then the successful pilot goes on to 1./JG400, the only Me163 Staffel to see regular and major combat action. You will fly missions that were in fact flown by many different pilots, so you have an opportunity to score more kills than the real fliers. However, the real goal of this campaign is to stay alive; as the campaign progresses you should find this increasingly more difficult.

*The campaign name is taken from Chapter 7 in Volume 2 of the books 'Me163 Rocket Interceptor' (see 'REFERENCE' below).

SETTINGS
--------

You can, of course, fly this campaign using whatever game settings you like. However, if you want to fly it as I designed it then you should select 'Realistic', but have Minimap Path and Speedbar ON. Speedbar is a personal thing as I find the Komet compass hard to read. I also like to have Externals ON (Tchaika has made some excellent Komet skins so it would be a shame not to see them) but if you do, try and refrain from looking at the other aircraft in the mission until after you have landed/bailed/died.

There are one or two surprises that using Externals, Map Icons or Aircraft Icons ON would spoil, so if you can avoid using them then you'll get the most from the campaign. Don't worry about not spotting the enemy aircraft without these aids. At high altitude the dots and/or vapour trails show up well, and if you do get lost just turn off your engine and listen. Any aircraft within 5km can be heard, and you'll soon get used to the sound of a load of approaching B-17s!

To find the enemy formations in the first place use the bearings in the briefing where given, otherwise follow the waypoints on the Minimap Path closely. I have used them as a substitute for the Ground Control Radar that guided the real Komets.

MISSION GOALS
-------------

Each mission has a Primary or Hidden Target that must be achieved in order to progress. These are either a Recon target or a successful landing. You are expected to land after each mission, for this is where some of the fun is to be had - gliding home and trying to outwit enemy fighters. I'll be interested to see if anyone can make it through the campaign without losing an aircraft - I can't!

FUEL SETTINGS
-------------

Again, in an endeavour to make this as much like the real thing as I could, I have reduced the available in-game fuel on all missions by 50%. My reasons for doing this are

1) that in IL2:FB AEP the Komet has 7 1/2 minutes of fuel at full throttle. This is OK according to the design specifications but in reality may be a little bit high.

2) The Komet's climb rate in the game is totally wrong. The real time taken to reach approx 30,000ft (9,146m) was around 2 to 2 1/2 minutes, yet in the game it can be reached in under 1 minute (!).

Given that the powered flight time at altitude after climbing was around 2 1/2 minutes as well, it can be seen that using 100% fuel settings gives too much engine time. I wanted my Komet pilot to have to glide home like the real ones did, so again if you want to fly the campaign as I designed it then leave the fuel settings alone, but be aware that you may only have 3 3/4 minutes of powered flight at full throttle. Keep an eye on that red warning light!

Yeah the Flying Tigers one is excellent.

Ahh ok, the Me-163 campaign from the official IL2 site. I think I played few missions from that campaign on my old PC, not sure though. Gonna give it a whirl anyway.

What is Mat Manager 2.36 (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=details&id=3117) used for?

Also, if its even possible, is there any music mods available? Kinda tired of the same title music.

Mat Manager lets you use more authentic looking national markings on the planes.

Check out my missions at
http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&file=search&sa=119

For changes in music try my Inflight Music and Randomizer (IMR)

Inflight Music and Randomizer (IMR) allows you to randomize play order of music and to change music to various nationalities without the need to leave the mission.
IMR setup comes with USA WW2 music, additional nationality expansion packs are available.

Thanks for posting that Jacob. But I'm having trouble getting it to work. It keeps saying in the console that the inlfight commands cannot be found. Theres also a list of all the inflight commands that can't be found. I have the option enabled for inflight music. I copied/pasted everything into the main 46 folder as instructed in the readme. I opened up the RCU file with notepad and copied/pasted the text from your txt file. I wasn't sure what I should use to open the RCU file with, since it has no extension.

I am running on XP, but I did have to change the shortcut target since my IL2 is installed on a separate HD. I'm guessing having it on a separate HD is the problem?

hmmmm
you extracted the files to the "other drive"? you may have extracted some cmd files or msic files to the default IL2 install path ( C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 )

i think the files were designed upon a default install.

try extracting the files to a temporary folder, maintaining the file structure, then copy THESE files into your working IL2 folder

IL2_InFlight__rnd.vbs
inflightdefault.cmd
InFlightger.cmd
InFlighthun.cmd
InFlightita.cmd
InFlightjap.cmd
InFlightpol.cmd
InFlightraf.cmd
InFlightrom.cmd
InFlightrus.cmd
InFlightusa.cmd
InFlightrock.cmd
InFlightcountry.cmd

finally I've found it's less cumbersome to typ in RAF or RUS instead of InFlightRAF or InFlightRUS so
open up rcu (no extention use notepad and do NOT save it as a text file) on copy in the following (they're simpler)

@a default file inflightdefault.cmd
@a ger file InFlightger.cmd
@a hun file InFlighthun.cmd
@a ita file InFlightita.cmd
@a jap file InFlightjap.cmd
@a pol file InFlightpol.cmd
@a raf file InFlightraf.cmd
@a rom file InFlightrom.cmd
@a rus file InFlightrus.cmd
@a usa file InFlightusa.cmd
@a rock file InFlightrock.cmd
@a country file InFlightcountry.cmd
@a off music PATH Music

let me know if this helps

JR, thats what I tried already(unzipped in temp folder, then copied to the IL2 folder). So all those files you listed are in my IL2 folder and the music is in the samples folder. For me its G:\Ubisoft\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946

By the way, are the commands case sensitive? Because I've noticed some commands aren't capitalized and some are. For example, inflightger.cmd is in the IL2 folder, but then in the rcu file it's spelled like this, InFlightger.cmd. Would this matter at all? I haven't tried relabeling anything yet.

Yeah I agree about the console cmds, will change mine to make it easier. Thanks for the help.

Zeus, thanks for posting the poll. Will definitely try em out, eventually someday. Hehe, so much to play and so little time in the day. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I tried renaming the commands, but it still says the commands can't be found. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

I'm assuming its trying to find the commands in the default install. So what file is directing IL2 to look in the default IL2 install path? Maybe I can open it up and edit it to my installation path. Is this possible?
