Once you figure out the G key thing its a lot of fun to land that plane.

You are supposed to land it on grass, but I find that is pretty much suicide. I use the airfields whenever possible, especially the concrete ones.

By all accounts (and it's easy to see why) it wasn't the easiest to land IRL, but using the skid is certainly a good idea http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Yeah, the grass landings suck. I probably have a 5% success rate on the grass. It's like the skid gets its nose dug in and you flip right over and explode. Even with the fuel tank empty (which is always).

Still, it's a really cool bomb (I mean plane) to fly! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

Grass? Skid?

I always thought it was a ski for water landings!

I had forgotten about this plane - so I just went and did some grass landings on the 'infield' of a concrete airfield (the grass between the taxiway and the runway proper).

It was in a word easy. Lower the ski, and the flaps and keep your speed as slow as it will fly and let her sink into the grass.

Easy peasy.

Then you get coated with the Z-stoff (100% hydrogen peroxide) and the ground crew scoops your remains out with a spoon.
Easy peasey. Morale was a little low...

Its a game... remember?

Oh and I forgot to mention that I ran the tanks dry and did a dead stick landing.

Easy peasy (in the game that is).

I heard/read/saw somewhere that landing the little Rocket ship on wet grass fields produced some Creamy pants... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/1072.gif

Well, except for that sinking into the water part after you slow down... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

All the pilots were volunteers ( I thought ) and one said that although you knew the aircraft would eventually kill you it was such a kick in the pants you HAD to fly it. Nothing performed like it. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

And the empty tanks still had residuals (you have to love hydrazine, YOU HAVE TO - http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif) that could prove explosive in RL, no doubt something Oleg thought he had to include (though empty tanks are safer than half empty tanks).

I'm done. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
