ok, this is pretty much to get an idea of how forum members feel about multiplayer. while i like the idea of online multiplayer, i feel that too many games are trying to go the way of exclusively online multiplayer and forgetting the whole reason of consoles... basically to entertain, whether that be a single person or a group of persons. i think when offering multiplayer, it should not only be online, but ALSO local, as in a second player via the same console and game, you know... in the same room... have developers forgotten this concept? yeah, tecmo, i'm looking at you (ninja gaiden 2 sigma's multiplayer... wtf?!). i don't play online too often, mostly because i think it's only worth playing with friends i know... anyone else just gets too hardcore about it and it kills the fun. so this is to see who would like to OFFLINE multiplayer as well... not to say they haven't implemented this, but if not, i think there's still plenty of time to do so and what better place to ask than the official forums?

While I'm not a big fan of online multiplayers, the idea of having a multiplayer option offline really appeals to me, for the same reasons you mentioned http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

i would like an offline co-op, i enjoy playing co-op with a friend on a friday night, getting hard to do as we are running out of co-op games to play

lol... who the heck is voting "no"??? why would someone NOT want to play this with a friend side-by-side? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

well, i'm buying it on the PC, so i can't play it locally with friends, and TBH, i only have friends who play games on the internet anyway. I know some "real" friends who play games, but they have PS3's, so i can't play co-op with them either.

I dunno, the idea is great, but i think the game is supposed to be played for at least 4 players co-op ("form your own brotherhood", 2 players seems a bit weak to be a brotherhood). Make it a L4D-style co-op, 2 players locally can connect with others online. That would be awesome.

PS:4 players locally would be crazy, the screen would be too small for this type of game.

yeah, i don't believe more than two is really necessary for a local multiplayer. as you said, the screen splitting would get pretty small. but it's just nice to be able to have the luxury to do play with someone. it's pretty sad to be able to have multiplayer... except you can only play online with it. it's like "hey! come over and watch me play online multiplayer! you can't play with me, but you can watch me play with someone else!" http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Yeh, I mean it's not like another gaming platform has been exactly like this for 20 years now. Oh, wait.

i honestly think that the offline element would a great thing going because not that many games have offline co op besides your sports and some of your shooters so i think it would be a great thing

Well multiplayer sounds awesome. I just hope theres more of a co-op, then a versus. Like campaign co-op would be nice. And good teamwork co-op in the versus

ooo... nice to see an overwhelming desire for offline multiplayer as an option... now if only we could guarantee the developers are glancing at this poll. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Does it make me a bad person because this mode doesn't interest me? Relax guy.

AC isn't one of those games where I have this burning desire to play with anyone else.I'll probably learn to like the Brotherhood multiplayer, but I'm not gonna call up one of my buddies to come over and play offline co-op AC with me.

That mode would collect dust just like the MW2 offline co-op does.

not really... no... it's more about the fact that they're gonna implement online multiplayer... and there's a good chance that there wouldn't be offline multiplayer. i think if they're gonna have multiplayer, why wouldn't they have at least 2 player offline if they're going to the trouble of the online option. whether you use it or not is entirely up to you... it's more about having the option rather than being told "no, you can't have it". that's why i said "why wouldn't someone want this?" it's basically an option to implement something that should have been there all along. i believe if you got multiplayer online, it's ridiculous to not be able to do it offline. quite a few games go this route now because developers are so into the idea that you can take consoles online now. i guess they forget all about the idea of offline co-op/verses. such examples are ninja gaiden sigma 2 and the darkness (which is a freak first person shooter to begin with!)... among others. it's like the only ones that are offline are most FPS games and the obvious ones like fighters. wtf? any other game has online multiplayer doesn't deserve to have it offline? that's ridiculous... especially with the storage capabilities on the new gen systems (ie. blu-ray for ps3). if older system games could do it, newer ones can too. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

so... i guess what i'm saying is, sure, you may not be interested in it really... but let's say you're playing it while a friend is over and he/she says "oh, this is cool! can i try it too?" with multiplayer offline, you can say "sure! let's just play together and i'll show you as we go." rather than straight up handing over the controller and being bored watching them play. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

all PC users: sorry, but this topic isn't directed toward you guys. we KNOW you can't play offline when it's a single keyboard... please don't skew the poll. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

You are only given a choise in the matter. Its not you'll lose anything on it. The people who want the choise can have it and the ones who don't care can just ignore it.

By saying no, you are saying you don't want others to have alternative options just because you yourself don't want it.
I believe that is the reason for for the response to the negative votes.

Why put the options there if you're gona moan about it when people choose one of them... you shoulda just put YES and DON'T CARE if thats what you were aiming for http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I think Multiplayer is a good step for the assassins creed series and it was bound to happpen. playing with friends i know on one console would be far more enjoyable than online with some randoms.

I think we should have both!!

With the confirmed 'Wanted' mode, we would clearly need online and there are more modes to come but seeing as there is a complete revamp to the combat and there won't be anymore staring contests, we could have online and offline 'Mano-a-Mano' battles!

Huh?

I would love offline mode as well because I do have RL friends that don't have an Xbox, and it'd be pretty sweet to go up against each other, or even work together to take down a target. Of course there's examples against too. Look at both Saints Row2 and Crackdown, both massive openworld gaming streaming, and they just couldn't render two people running around the world on the same console. So while I'd love to see it, I somehow doubt they'll let us have it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

He's a little bit behind the times, no?

I actually like the idea of an offline multiplayer, you could have some special missions where you have to take down a target together, or you could have a multiplayer version of the campaign... Just a thought.

Oh, and please please please no Xbox achievements for multiplayer. Think of the poor people without Xbox Live (namely me!)

2 obstacle courses, 2 players, 1 assassination target at the end of them. Whoever kills him, wins. Go!

these kind of polls dont make sense.
why give two options when one of them is obviously better than the other which has no advantages?
it's like asking "would u like your car faster?" yes or no?
YES, DUUUH!
when the real question is "would u like your car faster BUT more expensive?" or "would u like your car faster but more fuel consuming?"

there is ALWAYS a trade-off in life.

the poll here should have been:

"would u like online and offline MP in AC:B or a better optimized netcode for p2p?" or something of that sort.

regardless - i am a PC gamer so u know my POV on the matter - dont care :P all i care about is that the game will come out simultaneously on the PC as well.

Aslong as they optimise the release for PC I don't care about the release date... within reason of course lol

Just please not another crappy console port, they also need to think about compatibility a little more and not make the hardware requirements so narrow!

An offline free-mode would be perfect.

A city you can freely roam, normal guards, all abilities, and small side missions that give you an assassination target.

That'd be perfect, especially since so many people in my house and my neighborhood friends want to play it. I hate it when they come in ''I want to play''.

"Wait till this guy stops talking".

"Just skip through it, let me play now, I just wanna run around."

"I can't skip through it."

It's just a game after all. Honestly if I DO end up playing online and someone teabags me, I'm off AC multiplayer, as well as online multiplayer all together forever.

I have two friends who love AC as much as I do, and who aren't complete idiots. I'd love to just play ACB with them at home. It would be so much more enjoyable.

Please, Patrice, anybody, consider local multiplayer too. Don't leave us out of the loop of awesomeness, yeah?

Oh, and please please please no Xbox achievements for multiplayer. Think of the poor people without Xbox Live (namely me!) Amen to that.

i dont really care either way just they need to bring back some ac1 features like the bad assed chase music that made you think "uh oh time to get out of here" cuz in ac2 id assassinate a guy and have 20 guards chasing me and that happy up beat music still playing(and also that metalic zing when you kill someone instead of the squelchin/crunching noise)

I really wish there is some offline multiplayer, I suck online, at least in MGO, but I guess I can get better, and I hope there are dedicated servers, for that what happended to MGO doesnt happen to AC. Also it would be great if the developers had some sort of weird thing, unrevealed before whose existence is not confirmed in the multiplayer, like the werewolf is right now in red dead redemption, some mythbusting is always cool XD, at least for me

Azugo
06-04-2010, 12:03 AM
Lol yeah, I was really dissapointed in MGO... I always had to make my own lobby saying "Aussie's Only", because of bad connections etc...

But I am very sure that there won't be a problem like that in AC: B.

Anyway, I'd love an offline-multiplayer, but I can't see it happening.
