An Anton 4 with a Mustang III engine is actually quite remarkable.
If you can come up with a better combo I'm all ears.

Good one! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

However, considering that nothing can be done about mods on any current V4.08 server, other than limiting it somewhat by the host being smart enough to set the checkruntime feature to 2, they are all mod-welcome at this point. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/shady.gif

Even the current filecheck doesn't stop everything though and kicks supposed "honest" people at the same time. And just like the other fact that certain hosts set their speed check to huge numbers like 50% or higher allowed and do not use MAX LAG, they will not use this feature as well to allow them and their buds to do as they please. Just as it has always been.

I hope V4.09 hard codes the file check into it and does not allow it to be a host option. That way, everybody has to comply. No choices.

I was however referring to servers where FM mods are acceptable.
It will be interesting to see what the imagination of players will create.

He, he...considering that some folks already believe that certain planes already belong in Star Wars, it would be intersting to see what they do to their favorite rides to compensate for them. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The one mod that is being used extensively already over on UBI and a few other choice areas is increasing the hitting power of in-game weapons. I've personally witnessed it twice so far, although many have seen it as well.

I'd be more worried about .50s that are exploding planes at 1km+, than whether your FW can go as fast as a Mustang III. OK, maybe one golden BB once in awhile to a critical damage area, but 40-50 times in a row? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif

Touche'. However, one would have to do much more than just change out an engine to make an I-16 go 900km/h, lol.

I can see it now....400km/h....500km/h....600km/h....*shuddering* ...POOF! no wings or control surfaces. I actually forget the break-up speed of an I-16, but you get the point. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Lawn Dart City.

For me, I'd like to just drop the +25lbs engine into my Mk. VIII CW. Nothing else would need to be changed as she is already quite dominant. mwhahahaha

The Spitfire will be able to climb like an F15 on afterburner.

Teh F6F will turn inside an I 153 at 200kph TAS.

The Ki84C will be supersonic.

Th P51 will simply cause all enemy aircraft on the map to explode when their gear comes up.

I'll mod the nukems. See hysterical footnote about Nazis and the Hydrogen Bomb...

Proof ~> http://nuclearweaponarchive.org/Nwfaq/Nfaq8.html#nfaq8.2.1

Historical footnote: During World War II, the idea occurred in Germany that convergent shock waves and collapsing shells might focus enough energy to allow conventional high explosives to ignite limited fusion reactions. This idea was probably inspired by Gudderly's work in converging shock waves, and certainly by the Allied attempts to destroy the heavy water plant at Vemork, Norway. Since German physicists considered fission weapons to be beyond reach during the current war, they concluded that the Allied interest in heavy water must be due its application in high explosive weapons. The Germans actually checked craters left by the British "Grand Slam", the largest conventional bomb dropped during the war, to discover whether its unusual power was due to fusion boosting. Researchers in the U.S., Russia, Poland and Canada have successfully generated fusion neutrons through convergent shock waves. No one has ever released significant amounts of energy this way, although the theoretical possibility of doing so remains.
For realistic effects, upon LuftNukem detonation, all P-51Dora wings on the map will snap off.

I heard the new <STRIKE>mod</STRIKE> hack coming out really sucks.

Inputs from members were finally going to fix the 109 so it can dive to 1000km/h and turn inside it own length at the same time. Unfortunately, the hack has it losing a whole half a kilometer an hour during 180 degree turns. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_mad.gif There's always the next one. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Good thing is that the I-16 and F4F landing gear bugs will be addressed, as well as finally making the Ju-87 gear retractable. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

How do you know so surely? Did you make the sound mod yourself? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

To clarify: we aren't scared of your über clean CFS sounds, but from the below über Do-335 and all other dirty stuff that will slowly but SURELY creep online from the twilight zone.

http://web.t-online.hu/rnzoli/modded-sound-il2.jpg

In a standard server, where your sound mod is accepted, all other dirty things are accepted, too. There is no known way to let the sound mod into a server, while keeping out the Pfeil VTOL mod, the put-my-head-through-the-canopy 6DOF mod etc.

Since so many people seem to pretend being blind about the consequences, I am thinking about opening a temporary server, where I demonstrate the cheating possibilities with the modding tools. P11 with 3 Mk108s and a 2000 HP engine would be good fun to fly. Bring on your innocent sound mod only, please http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

The Do335 above can not be created using the contents of the sound package.

The owner of the decryption thing can do it. However he/she seems to be keeping it out of circulation (thank God).

At the moment I'm far too busy flying an original, unmodded p.11 offline to join some clown server. Although I must admit - I'm flying over the Berlin map, on which I've harmlessly changed all the onscreen labels to be Polish cities rather than German ones. This credit shot is also from the Do-335 VTOL movie. QTIM is the brain behind the hack (created the tool) and the guy making the actual mod pack is called hellzone100. I have to agree with rnzoli.

Qtim may have tried to keep the hacking tools out of circulation, but he clearly failed.

Given hellzone100's comments, he definitely has no qualms about propagating it.

Therefore people will get hold of the hacking tools and will use it to cheat online. Refer human nature... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I hope not. I really hope the guy is just going to 'selfishly' keep it to himself for the purpose of Youtube-bragging and solitary online cheating (although the check runtime should still take care of him). I would not like to see the thing widely available at some stage in the future.

What a trusting nature you have Feathered, do you really believe that people will restrict themselves to just tinkering with the sounds?

You guys need to wake up and smell the coffee. This mod has been around for at least a year now, the sound mod was downloadable with the sfs extractor tool.

It originated in an Eastern European country and easily explains the crazy scores that some of the Eastern European guys flying online wars were getting.
Strangely over the past year most of them have dissappeared from the general servers(I wouldn't fly against them myself saw to many "anomalies" in recorded tracks).

They tried to keep it quiet, as there seems to be a "win at all costs" mentality amongst many of them, human nature being what it is of course it has leaked out.

With the tool you can make your FMs whatever you want with a little basic computer programming knowledge, kiddie stuff apparently.

The kiddies have been playing on ALL servers for months, the clever ones just tweak their FMs enough not cause suspicion, the dumb ones are funny and pretty obvious(record tracks and then review the other players after http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif )

And BTW it is still ILLEGAL and a HACK. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Its interesting to see how many posters that I previously respected are going through moral hoops to defend the use of this illegal hack, not only insulting and abusing those that are speaking out against it but in some cases actually blaming Oleg for the situation in the first place.
While I guarantee most people here would love to have seen different sounds enabled, it did not cause them to suddenly want to become hackers and illegal modders. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

Judging from the forums I believe hacks are wide spread.
The only 'rational' explination I can find for such a range of opinions on;

Spitfire FMs
.50cal effectivness.
The P51
Porked or ubered 109s.
etc

is that everyone is playing completly different versions to each other already.

Not all servers. There are Online players who work hard to build a community they trust. And you are ignoring long standing members here who enjoy new features other than hacked FMs or DMs, and who would indeed rather Oleg releace his own official "hack" that does not allow FM/DM changing.

rnzoli, you yourself said both sides are going overboard here. I agree with you there. Boop at simhq made the best poast about this whole thing...

Boop::
It seems the default sounds are so bad everyone is willing to accept a hacked exe to get the features they want. I am amazed (and glad) this thread has not been locked.

As I mentioned earlier there is not much need to worry about cheating in online play, any server that wants to remain "pure" can just enable "CHECKRUNTIME=2" and not have to worry about hacked exe cheats.

Those that want a more in depth singleplayer or coop with trusted friends can enjoy these new sounds, planes, gore :0 , and possibly even 6DOF and new default skin packs.

The cat is out of the bag, at least for now. The only question that remains is whether it will remain underground or become widely accepted by the community.

Another thing I was wondering about:If someone has the hack, hosts a server, and flies, for example, an MS406, would that be an invisible plane to someone who joins without the hack?

I for one won't download the mod. I respect the copyrights and other legal documents concerning Il-2 and Maddox Games, and I'll continue doing so even if the rest of the community gives up and downloads the tools and mods, even if it means I am smacked down by lightspeed I-153's and Ki-27's on jet servers everytime I hop on Hyperlobby.

Look at it this way...if a host sets up a Dogfight mission with flyable AI versions, which has always been able to be done, then the plane would appear in everyone's list.

However, if he has the hacked files.sfs, he'll be flying his AI plane with a pit and gunsight, while you would only be able to fly yours from external views.
