Well, I'm here to tell you that AC3 can be set anywhere with any ancestor of any ethnicity.
Because Altair and Ezio aren't related, therefore any new assassins can be of any ethnicity in any setting.

Ubi is opening doors for more options for foreign assassins/settings to make entry without having any relations to Altair or Ezio.

So, to all the people says the game cant be set in East Asia (China/Japan) because Altair or Ezio never makes it to Asia, you are 100% wrong.

Ubisoft is trying to clear up all the confusion of fans thinking the game can only take place in europe and any future assassins must be connected Ezio or it cant be done are all futile.
There will be a possibility of a Ninja or Asian Assassin in AC3 with an oriental setting.

Shao Jun looks to be one of them.

Cool, but I don't remember many people saying that. It's mostly because it sounds really cliche to have them in the ninja setting. But if they can pull it off, why not? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
I grabbed this post from the other thread.
I deleted my post on that thread, and made this thread, because I believe it felt it needed a thread of its own since it was an issue many here have argued about frequently presently and in the past.

If AC3's ancestral aspects take place in Asia I'm thinking thatit will either be farther back than the 1600's, that the Asian Assassin married a non-asian and the line continued that way, or he'll be going through someone else's memories through something like a DDS.

But then again, didn't Subject 16 have an asian ancestor? He was also related to Ezio...

People just don't like the idea of it losing it's assassin feel for that of samurais and ninjas.

I agree with them.

correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there were any large cities in the orient, just straw hut villages, maybe a temple or two, and a great wall.
