Good words indeed! I went to a double funeral of an elderly couple on Saturday. Relatives of mine, who died from carbon monoxide poisoning. The husband made the mistake of running a generator inside their home during a black out. We have had a lot of severe storms lately that have been playing havoc with electrical supply. Stupid way to die. Smell the roses.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I had a death among relatives too this week (ok, he was 72). On average 4-6 people are dying in my vicinity per week for the last 3 weeks...this is getting insane.

Something's really wrong, and I mean it.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

But that's the minor bit. It's been a strange holiday season

I just returned from a Wake. My good friend's Mom died just the other day. I also learned today that another close friend's Mom was diagnosed with Level 4 cancer (it don't get much worse) and is essentially dying. I am removed from these things to a degree of course; but still I feel the frustration and fear and pain of these people I care about

So, in the words of another of the recently deceased, James Brown, who was a great lover of Mankind:

"this is a very unusual way for me to be coming to you today"

James was a great lover of humanity. He would use his music to reach out to people. Right now I'm reaching out through the medium I have at hand to do a little of the same. I've seen a lot of trouble with loved ones in the last couple days. Death, and news of very serious illness. The Christmas season was very bad for some people I know, bad news was selling cheap this week. I can't do anything to change the events I've learned about in the past few days

But, among the news I got, was that my friend who just lost his Mom became a Daddy this month as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Thank God he has his tiny litle girl to worry over and think about

Please, when you see your loved ones, don't forget to tell them how much they are loved. Life is short, and it can be taken away despite all the prayers wishes and efforts of all friends and family.

That's the major bit. Life can be tough, but it's so easy to make it a little easier. Don't forget to tell your family how much you care this holiday season. You'll never give a gift that's easier to give, or that is more warmly appreciated http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Very well said Chris;condolences to all.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Lyrics from Naked Raygun's "Rat Patrol".
"What we need to take control,we could use the Rat Patrol. What's that coming over the dune?...
Chasing the halftracks across the sandflats, got a nice pine box,for that desert fox, machine guns blaring, and Arabs staring wondering why,the Westerners are there. It's the same old story, and it'll happen again."

So true, Chris.

That's why children are the ones who enjoy Christmas. Most of us, mature people or just near the end of youth, have many empty chairs around the table, and now it is when painful absence is more notorious.

But don't let our losses to affect negatively on our feelings for the present. Now it is also the occasion to show how much we love the ones we care for, before it is too late. And love expresses better thru smiles and good temper.

Merry Christmas to all, and look around you every day on the year. Enjoy life, and let others enjoy it.

Carpe diem!

Very well put Chris. As the old sying goes: "You don't know what you've got until it's gone!.

Best of wishes to you and yours!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Hi Chris, very touching post. Well I spent yet another Christmas away from home, lately I go home in springtime (parents live the Canada, sister in the States and me in Europe) and it is a bit complicated to get everyone together. Still I have some very good friends here, some good bunch of people, and a handful of friends who are like family so I was and am not alone.

Yea. It almost got dear out of my eye. Not actually the fact that someone died. But the fact that someone cares so much. Thats beautiful.

Condolences, Chris.

My drummer's wife died the week before Xmas. She had been battling cancer for quite some time, but finally lost out.

R.I.P. Loneva Mullins, James Brown, and all others that left us this season.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
