April '43, patrol 25, detected by radar but managed to close and sink T3 in convoy south of Crete, then all hell broke loose, "We have been detected", "the enemy is pinging us" "depth charges in the water", was the constant refrain, maintained silent running at 220m only going to flank using the CE manouver panel and releasing a decoy at the appropiate moment, no matter what I did I couldn't shake them, this went on for over 1hr, (which I played in real time), plus save reloads came to over 3 hrs (learned my IXc gets rapidly crushed at 230m) finally must have released another decoy at the precise moment for it to do it's job and managed to sneak away. Mein Gott!!!! 1st time since starting out in '39 I got caught by the escorts, have not had that hard a time since SH1, intense to put it mildly. Excellent learning experience too, anyone know if there are hunter-killer groups in the Med, as I think I need more escape and evasion practice before I meet them! Total respect to those of you that get away using 100% realism settings.

Well, from what I read, maybe changing depth while they are depth charging you could have helped. I also drop to 1 knot or just stop right after the DC run. They almost never find me again, but some DDs do have xray vision so beware !

Wait, it gets worse. I have now died 3 times in about 2 months span due to unexpectedly launched Hedgehogs, fall of 1943. Those are MUCH worse than DC's sonce you almost can't avoid them, and if you are at a respectable depth, you will get unbeliavable amount of flooding even after one hit.
