Guys, curiousity is fine, but since the news about Battle of Britain were revealed, there have much more threads shown up about that game than really are needed.

If I remember correctly, its due to be released in 2005, right? Plus minus one or two delays. WE STILL GOT 2003!

So dont get to crazy and excited now, cause I'm pretty sure that system requirements, upcoming planes and what-the-heck-else is COMPLETELY subject to CHANGE!
It's useless to bother thinking about more than what has been officially told, and even the official statement (pardon me for saying so) is NOT worth being discussed THAT massively as it is happening now.

Calm down, look forward to the next free patch/add-on (which also may experience some changes till its released) for FB, and play some more FB meanwhile!

Cheers, and see you out there,

- Future

S!Future

Hear Hear...I agree!!

You all Better "Start a Future Computer Fund Account".

Don't be left behind when the "BoB" Oleg style hits shelves!

Your current rig...at least most of the current rigs out there right now...will not work or barely run it!

"Remember it will be 2005 requirements"

Your future rig will need to have this is just a guess-http://socalsportbikes.com/xmb/images/smilies/dunno.gif

1. At least 1 to 2 gigs Memory

2. Current crop of graphics card won't cut it. Not even the Nvidia's 5900 Ultra, or ATI 9800 XT?

3. 4 to 5 Ghz Processor's and Motherboards etc.....

5. Better High Res Monitor's

Every up grades guys.

Start thinking about how I'm I going to run this baby...

You have about 18 months...give or take to think about it..not counting delays.....

So stop this whininghttp://socalsportbikes.com/xmb/images/smilies/banghead.gif

Fine sentiments but pretty pointless. Look how much LOMAC stuff has been gone over in this forum, and there has been a dedicated site for that for ages.
Expect the BoB discussions to carry on until a forum is up and running for the sim, but even then don't expect them to go away.
Just life and people, I'm afraid.
Cheers!

Ladies & gentlemen, this is the captain speaking. Thankyou for choosing to fly Mandarin Airlines. Those passengers sitting on the left-hand side of the aeroplane please make yourselves comfortable. Those sitting on the right... please look to your left!

Yeah, I know, another B.o.B. thread this is..... but if I would have named it like
"Oleg sighted in Gay Bar" or
"Matt Wagner Pregnant",
it definitely would have gotten attention, but not on the intended subject /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Its due out in mid 2005...Gee I've got to get busy!
I've got careers going ...many started to day the game came out...& although I've continued all of them thru many " deaths have yet to complete one...Still haven't flown most of the more obscure Russian aircraft...have never attempted to fly the Russian or German Bombers on a real mission( death comes soon enough in a Stuka...)Have just scratched the surface on the permantations of career/aircraft combinations( someone with a more substatial math background can work this out..)Haven't played on line all that much ( too busy being killed & resurrected in careers-see above..)& have no idea of how to join a squadron ( or a clue of how this works???)Still have many, many, many skins to download( perhaps some of the Hurricane & Bf-109E ones will still be good for BoB 2005- or is this too much to hope??)Am waiting for the new A/C like Bf-110s 210's,410s,P-51s,B-17s etc, etc...Oh and what about the new missions ,skins & campaigns they'll bring with them??What about new maps possible in next 2 years,or WW-1 versions? I need to continue to upgrade my PC so it doesn't continue to freeze up or overheat mid complex mission...of course it goes without saying I need to save all my pennies to buy the next generation of PC to handle this new version of BoB and al it brings along with it...maybe even a laptop so I can play on long airplane trips....? No I'd have to say that mid 2005 sounds way too close time-wise for me.....

Because it was boring in here. How many times can you say "the view in the 190 is wrong" Or "the La7 is uber".

This gives us something new to talk about.

How about "More Ai planes on servers with Ext views on wanted" or news about air racing, some more talk about if someone has had a breakthrough regarding the DS matter etc. etc. .

There's quite enough stuff FB related to talk about, and if you really run out of topics, then just sit back and either watch, play FB or do something else.

Seems to me some of those guys going crazy about B.o.B. this and B.o.B. that really need to get a life...

As I said before, most interesting for the moment should be the next patch/add-on due to be released this month, and the changes it will bring to FB, both technically and player-sided (i'd really love to see more servers having the Ai-Bombers available, such as Tu-2S, Pe-8 and the upcoming B-17G and FW-200).

Something new to talk about is great, but I want the advanced copy like some guys already have. At least it looks like they do, considering the way they critique it.

Yet another "Golden Toilet Paper Award" handed out to yet another worthless thread. People are excited about the future. Why not give them a break.

We've already got Battle of Britain.

Fire up FMB, put some Heinkels in there, some Stukas, some Emils, and some Hurricanes, and voila, instant Battle of Britain. Save your mission into net/coop and host a BoB coop.

Its amazing sometimes how much money we are willing to spend just to get a 50 dollar game working well. (of course its one of the best sims of all time... who am I kidding)

**********
Disclaimer, its hard to comment on something that is months or years away.I think even the pay for add-on they may rethink it into a full stand alone like FB. Hint hint, I think it would sell three to five times as many copies if it was packaged with the desert, some more models, and about 6 maps and a lot of skins for existing models.

*************

I have to say I am disappointed that the Pay For Add-ON will not be Mediterranean Theatre. I really wasnt surprised in the slightest "the next sim" would be BoB with expansion to the continent and beyond sales permitting. It makes perfect sense with the level of detail that has been mentioned in previous articles

It does not make sense however with that stated that with a relatively short amount of development cycle they could package a new stand alone IL2 sim in the Med based on the IL2:FB engine. With that also stated, Im with all the folks asking for why the Me110, JU88 and PE2 have not been promised in the add-on. I am definitely going to get the addon, but... what about the mainstream public? Im definitely going to buy the "next sim" BoB whatever you want to label it for now ; but.... was really looking forward to another theatre in the meantime other then the western front. Not knocking their development, this is beyond a shadow of a doubt the greatest ww2 sim of all time and BoB is destined to make new leaps as well.... just.. well ... thats what I feel. I really was looking forward to online campaigns having a hack at the Afrika Corps and the supply wars (both land and sea) of this barely touched upon theatre.

One thing that IL2 and FB did . and many have noted it... was it got people to research the Eastern Front. I didnt know jack about it ; now I own a slew of books on the subject and feel much the better for taking the time to research the topic. I think it really did something for the community at large as far as history was concerned. I think the Mediterranean theatre of ops deserves this too. Ok... your talking to a philosophy/history graduate, but... my thoughts none the less.

@ Buzz: Sure, call me a noob, I'm "only" into IL-2 since the demo of it was out (after playing that, I immediately bought a copy of IL-2 when it was released).
When FB finally made it, I also bought a copy.

Just because I'm not flying every day in the HL and answering to every 3rd thread only typing 2 lines so my big whoop-a** sig can be seen, doesn't mean I'm new to all this, is that understood?

Besides, it's VERY interesting that you have the feeling I was talking about you; and since you feel that way, you should start thinking if you only answered because your ego demanded it, or because I am right.

Anyway, all I'm trying to say is this: compared to other boards, the IL-2 and FB forum is by far the most frequented one I know of, and considering that it sure wouldnt hurt if one would not go and start a new thread about anything that just comes "flying" by (for example: "The big B.o.B. processor question" or "Will you buy B.o.B. when it comes" - Hell, even the developers surely cant answer that processor question right now, its too early; and whether one buys the game or not, one definitely cant tell without having at least read some descent info about a close-to-gold-version-beta!).

So, cool your jets, and use some more of that "logical & rational thinking" we have so much heard of /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif .

Telling someone to get a life. Will always get a reaction from me.

Your a noob to what you have contributed to the forum. Don't lurk. Get involved, or nobody knows you. The amount you fly has nothing to do with it. This isn't flying. It's a forum. You talk here. In the talking department. Your a noob.

Aaah, so you're believing that one's posting quality is determined by the raw quantity he has overall "shown" himself on the board?

Interesting.

I do value quality, and I see a lot of quality postings here. Unfortunately, the "why-do-you-even-bother-telling"-class postings on this board are also present in annoyingly high numbers.

Hear this now: just because I don't post much doesn't mean I don't know whats going on.

Back to the main topic: don't you think that I have at least a point, even if you don't agree?
