Hello i have this problem, a newbie one i guess.

I have real trouble aiming in full realism settings. I hit alot with planes like the yak and huricans BUT when i fly the bf:s and the wolfs i hit ALOT less. Anyone have a link to a nice gunner school or have some aiming advice? Ill prefer help on german plane aiming as it seems a bit different.

Hit SHIFT+F1 to center the reticle in German planes. Lower your convergence to 200 meters or so, don't open fire at ranges over 300 meters, and use the rudder for adjustments. That should get you started.

109's can be difficult without practice.

I suggest flying offline, QMB, setup first a group of friendly fighters and turn on icons so you can see the distance.

After you get the distance down and a feel for the guns, try a little 1v1 against an easy foe.

Gradually work your way up - and try to have fun in the process http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Also - if you are curious of deflection, try turning on externals, pause the game, and check where you are aiming - many times you'll find you are not deflecting high enough (or low enough).

Hope that helps!

one more thing - in the conf.ini file there is an arcade setting.

Turn that on (1?), you'll be able to see where you are hitting.

It shows you with neat, little arrow where you hit.

Brock Landers? Isn't that from Boogie Nights?

Yes russian fighters had topquality guns that even operated well when clogged with dirt. They also had high rate off fire and flat trajectory, thats why its relatively easy to hit. In german aircraft u need to pull more lead to get the proper deflection.

If u fly a bf 109 and are behind the enemy, try aiming a bit above the target. If the target is 300 to 400m away u got to aim quite high.( experiment on bombers )

Another good tip is to record a quicktrack ( hit enter) and later review it ( in slowmo ) and see where your tracers went.

To fire at turning planes u have to pull some lead (how much depends on speed and angle and distance)
I think a good idea is to pull a bit more than u think is nescesary ( remember to watch your track afterwards)if your tracers go far behind the turning target u need to pull more lead. ( usually u pull too little lead)

I mostly fly online and when i pull lead the target often
disapears under my nose= I actually dont see my target, but quite often hit nowadays even with single bops.

These things eventually becomes second nature... u do it without thinking.( when u are familiar with the plane)

hope this helps..... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif
