View Full Version : Black Cross/Red Star Vol. 3 publication news

I receive quite a lot of e-mail from people asking me when Black Cross/Red Star: Air War over the Eastern Front Vol. 3 will be published. I too started to wonder when I saw on Eagle Edition's website that the publication is postponed to August this year, so I phoned Judy Crandall (the publisher). Judy explained that the reason to this delay is that when she received the colour proofs from the printer, she was not satisfied and returned them to the printer and asked them to rework it.

Now that might be Eagle Editions in a nutshell: Maybe not always fast, but indeed very careful about quality! I think we can all expect a book of the highest printing quality from Eagle Editions when Black Cross/Red Star Vol. 3 is released. I was very impressed with what they did with the Graf & Grislawski book, but I can tell you that the printouts for Black Cross/Red Star Vol. 3 which they sent me really surpasses the G&G book in terms of layout etc. Hope people will like the contents too...

Apart from those, my 200,000-book on the Battle of Britain will be published in October this year. First in Swedish, and then probably in an English edition.

All the best,

Christer Bergstr√¬∂m

"I'm also looking forward to the Bob book, who knows, maybe it'll come out as the same time as the game!"

Yes, my book on the Battle of Britain will be published at around the same time as the new Battle of Britain game.

I'll start a separate thread on that book.

If topics like this will get stickied just like that, why can't you moderators just sticky the

"High Resolution Screens"

and

"Who we are and what we look like-the sequel"???

Which part of "For a week" is bothering you? One week = 7 days. I think one of the best book series about WW2 aviation deserves it. No?

Superb books---I cheerfully shelled out the bucks for a slightly dinged used copy of volume 1 when I saw it wasn't going to be reprinted. Indispensable for those with a serious interest in the Eastern Front, for modelers, and for simmers. They and the huge output from David M. Glantz on the land war are changing the West's understanding of the Eastern Front.

Perhaps a clean ww2 aviationbook-tip-thread-sticky would be something.
I'm always on the lookout for books that fit my wallet.

Good news Herr Bergstr√¬∂m.

Pity they've changed the logo, new one looks cack.

Does the change of publisher mean that the first book will still be reprinted?

Actually IMHO the new title logo is pretty tasty.

The site is worth checking out to see the upcoming other series titles from Mr Bergstrom. There's a 4 volume history set re the air war on the Ostfront from a strategic PoV, rather than the operational unit PoV of BCRS. Plus there's histories of the BoB and the RAF's nighbomber offensive against Germany.

Gosh. Seriously, I have the first two volumes. And I bet the third volume will be just as good or better content wise. But the new styling really looks cheap compared to the old one. The Old ones almost had a classic look, both the logo and the use of oil printings gave them a classy appearance. The new one kinda looks what you get at trainstation bookstores. I am seriously not too thrilled about it.

Certainly I will buy it anyways.
