View Full Version : Grrr.... IL2-Sturmovik 1946 startup troubles!

Hi all,
I've installed a copy of IL-2 Sturmovik 1946, having uninstalled my previous copy of IL-2 Sturmovik. Needless to say, after installation problems (I had to manually delete a failed partial installation, and the corresponding RegEdit entries), the game does not start.

This message presents itself after I double click the icon to start the program. The disc whirrs very briefly, and then the message. Nothing else.

Here's a brief run down of my system stats, straight from Direct X Diagnostic:

OS: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)
System: Dell 9200
Processor: Intel Core 2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz (4 CPUs)
Memory: 2046MB RAM
Page file: 431MB used, 5552MB available
Direct X Version: DirectX 9.0c
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS (256MB)
Main Driver: nv4_disp.dll
Version: 6.14.0011.5851

If you have any questions, I'll be happy to provide as much information as possible! Thanks for any help. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

So you've formatted your computer and reinstalled?

Computer is a new (< 4 days) setup, haven't had a problem with anything so far (included my previous installation of IL-2 Sturmovik). I'm going to reinstall the program again to see if that helps.

Thanks for the help. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Chris

Can you post this in the Community Help forum - and please put the whole Dxdiag readout there - where your problem will get more detailed attention.

Edited details of readouts are tricky. For example: Do you have just "OS: Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600)" installed?
Or is that Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 but you trimmed the end off the sentence?

Stuff like that makes an obvious difference to any troubleshooting.

It would seem that its not a problem with the game as you have reinstalled.

That would suggest a driver problem.

WHat other games do you play?
