Of all the wonderful and exciting third-party Il-2 projects, this was the one that really had me interested. There hasn't been a high-quality, widely available WWI combat sim in perhaps six years! Finally being able to take these old boats out for a spin with such a hi-fi game engine was a great prospect.

And now that il2center seems to be dead or dying (the link to the forums seems to be gone, and the last news article was some lame-@$$ ridiculous hack months ago), I have no idea how the whole project is going.

If anyone out there who reads this is involved in making WWI aircraft or other related objects or sounds for Il-2 FB, please reply and say what you're doing. I'm sure a lot of people are curious...

Great, a soulmate (but as in soul not the music)

I played last weekend Red Baron 2 (upgraded to 3D and enhanced with new terrain, planes and objects) in glide on my ATI Radeon 9700. No problems running it with sound under WinXP, because a sound patch is also available. It's still a 1997 game, but it looks great to fly in those slow but highly maneuverable coffee grinders with bright colours and challenging decals. It gave me a great retro feel. If yoy're interested, down below is a link: hells angels (but as in knight in the sky not the motor guys). There's also a paymod and this looks good (Full Canvas Jacket)

Then there is news: Knights over Europe. Expected in second quarter of 2004.
See this page:www.aspectsimulations.com/Prod_KOE.htm

Red Baron: www.jamrom.com/hellsangels/main.htm (http://www.jamrom.com/hellsangels/main.htm)

And yes it would be nice if some people would make ww1 (edited, stupid me) planes for IL2FB. But i can wait for KoE.

Q'plah!

I too would hate to see the WW1 project die. The Il2/FB graphic engine is ideally suited to this period. Heck, my favorite planes already are the I-153, I-16 and PZL just for the open cockpit!

A good WW1 addon is something I would PAY for. Yes, real MONEY. Anyone who has yet to develop an interest in this period, have a look at the "Four Years of Thunder" documentary series.

I have just gotten back from vacation. So I was a bit slow to respond to this thread. The WW1 Project is alive but on Life Support. If I can get us a spot on Netwings forums in the next week or so, perhaps we can get back into the swing of things once again.
