View Full Version : Hissing Sounds

I have a severe hissing sound when I am inside the cockpit of any aircraft. It does not do it on F3 and only very little on F2. It has made the game unplayable. I have posted on Community Help and on SimHQ.

Il-2 '46 is on the verge of landing in the trash can and I will not go through the reinstall dance for the older versions. A lot of the people said buy this for the Burma map. Well, the Burma map is not in MY game.

I knew I shoudn't have bought '46 and my gut feeling is turning out to be right. I hope no one construes as an attack on 1C:Maddox. I am venting frustration, that's all. The game has never been right since 4.05 came out, PE-2 was a bugfest and now '46 simply will not perform up to expectations.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Don't know about the hiss, seems weird to me. Never heard that problem before. Only happens with 46, I'm guessing? I'm not a sound card guy by any means...what card is it, and have you ever updated the drivers?

I did, for the longest time, have popping and snapping noises. In my case, an exposed, worn wire for the radio I have on my desk was (sometimes) sending current throught the desk! The current would arc on the slides for my desk drawers and keyboard tray, since they are metal, and that was the source of the popping and cracking. For the last year I thought it was my monitor about to die http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

No. It is a sound like the flaps are stuck or compressed air is blowing around and it just constantly loops. Maybe it's a corrupt sound file. It isn't my speakers or sound card, because other programs work fine.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Breeze, just FYI... 1946 resets all the settings in conf.ini to default... did you try to go over setup again? To me 1946 sounds better then ever. It could be individual problem that you experiancing and just need to try few things. Why dont you try changing sound settings for starter... like begind with safe DX and work your way up? There are several things that might affect sound... so, maybe one step at the time? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Kozhedub: In combat potential, the Yak-3, La-7 and La-9 fighters were indisputably superior to the Bf-109s and Fw-190s. But, as they say, no matter how good the violin may be, much depends on the violinist. I always felt respect for an enemy pilot whose plane I failed to down.

I have tried every combination of settings I can think of. It did sound great for a few days. It has to be a corrupt file.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It has to be a corrupt file.

It likely is not a corrupt file. But to set your mind at ease, install the game a second time to a different hard drive of directory/folder/location.

You said it yourself... that is sounds like flaps setting. Assign a different key to the flap operation of up and down... retest.

Also try Coasties sound setup ... from here. Its a start.

Are you sure there aren't snakes on your plane?

Someone please kill me for posting this.

I've had that same problem a very long time ago. It has nothing to do with '46. Problem is it was so long ago I don't know how I fixed it. Try changing your flaps buttons. I have a X52 and have my flaps on a rotery and sometimes for some reason the rotary button still gives a signal and wich makes the flaps give a constant hissing sound. Try deadzone if you have flaps on your joystick.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You can switch back to the older version very easily, no reinstalling necessary - get the "4.04/4.05/4.07 Switcher" from the French simulations magazine website. It's linked all over the forum. (not the one in my sig, though.)

Breeze, what happens if you fly an aircraft which has no flaps (such as the P.11c?)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
