Again, a newplayer question.

My rudimentary skills have me as a turning contest type of player.

Which planes can turn the tightest in dogfights, in people's experience?

Either the I-153 or the J8A. I would say that the J8A has the slightest of advantages, but this is only what I perceive.

Like Vladimir say, those two.

But they really are not match for 1940> design planes. So you will have a hard time catching anything with them. They are extremely agile, but very slow.

Also try A6M2 Zero, it turn excellent too, but also suffers from inadequate max.speed.

For late war planes, try LA7, Spitfire and KI84 (this one isn't so good turner, but overall performance is excellent IMO better than previous two).

the Storch !! but its not flyable

more seriously .. any of the slower bi-planes are good turners as is the P11c

bi-planes aside -- if you want a competitive turn and bank plane look at the zero spits and the various russian la variants

Ki-43 is the king of the monoplanes http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

J8 is THE tightest biplane turner

Ki42 1A is THE tightest monoplane turner followed closely by the A6M2 zero, and the Go 229, THEN the I 16

The Fiat CR-42 can turn with the best of 'em too.

I'm suprised no one has mentioned the Mig-3U yet. It can't turn like the J8a, but the J8a turns tighter because it is slower. The Mig turn on a dime at 300 kph.

The answer you need to hear is,

Stop relying purely on turning and learn some tactics, some situational awareness and energy skills. Then, you'll have more options.

As you move later in the war, at slow speeds the 109G2 is really good turner too as are some of the Yak's like Yak 3. Now that pacific fighters is out, I like the Hellcat too, but it won't out turn those zero's....

Maybe better to say planes to stay away from...Fw's, Jug's, lightings, Ki61, Bf109e, mustang is middle of the road and spitfire ix is pretty good but can be out turned by 109's as speed slows. La's are always good, but some Yaks do better than others and same with Mig's...the 3u at low speed is pretty good....and those Airacobra's especially the late ones are really good...good Ki84 killers.
