View Full Version : craving full-real tracks to watch

Work is quiet these days. FB+AEP+PF is on my work computer but I can't hook up a joystick to play, so I need some tracks to watch.

There's one on the main ubi site by Richard Lingg which is freaking great - no externals, cockpit on, no labels, TrackIR, feels like the real thing.

Any place I can download more? Anyone wanna post a link to one of their own? Ya don't have to be an ace, I'm **** myself.

Thanks!

That is not a track with the TIR I think.

Here is one full real and with the TIR. It's a bit long:

Thanks, that was cool. I watched 30mins, until you ran out of ammo, then I had to stop it. I assume you don't get shot down?

Any more?

Why is it always so silent when people ask for tracks? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Ah well, here's some nice FW action. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I actually turned off the labels manually in the P-39 track. You can do this with scripts.
http://home.student.utwente.nl/a.j.vansteenwijk/IL2/scripts.rar
Download these, make a scripts folder in de main directory of IL2 and place these scripts in that folder. Then add the following lines to the RCU file(you can open that with notepad), situated in the main IL2 folder.
@set alias on
@alias a alias
@a 7 f scripts/Arnie.il2script
@a 8 f scripts/icons.il2script
@a 9 f scripts/noicons.il2script

Then when you are watching the track, press shift tab which brings up the console and type a 9 followed by enter. And whoosh, gone are the labels. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
the tracks: http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
http://home.student.utwente.nl/a.j.vansteenwijk/IL2/FW%20action.rar

For clarity, my complete RCU file looks like this:
@set fast off
@set echo on
@set alias on
@set history 20

@alias a alias
@a h history
@a s show
@a 7 f scripts/Arnie.il2script
@a 8 f scripts/icons.il2script
@a 9 f scripts/noicons.il2script

Yeah I'm surprised tracks aren't a bigger deal. I thought people like to show off?

Thanks for your ones - will watch tomorrow.

To Henkie mainly:-

Thanks for the link to your track. Whilst I enjoyed it immensely (it's always a hoot watching fast mono's try to hit a bipe!) what I was hoping for was a demo of TrackIR. Maybe there's summat wrong with my setup, but it seemed to me you kept a fixed forward view throughout the track.

Have I missed summat?

Mango42,

Maybe manual viewing was on?

else I don't have a explanation for it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/53.gif

You must be able to watch the track from my view with manual viewing off.

DUH! I got there just before you and was coming on here to apologise!

Great track and way better now - thanks!

Think I'll wait for TIR3 but looks just the job - the way you can get such a rapid tail view is bril! But do you have to take eyes off screen to get it?

Do you have winzip (http://www.winzip.com) or winrar (http://www.rarlab.com)? The file is a compressed file to keep the size down. You can download either of those programs if you dont have one of them yet. Just run that program and let it open the *.rar file you downloaded. Then you will see the .trk files which you can then extract to the tracks folder in IL2. I hope this is clear enough? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif If not, just ask about what you dont understand.

Cheers http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

I have some tracks for you if you want to send me an email at sportspecial@hotmail.com I will mail you a few tracks I have flying online in cockpit-on servers.

I have many tracks, but two I will send you for sure are a couple on a no-icons server where I fly against spits in a 109g2. The g2 has bad rear visibility compared to earlier and later 109s, but it is no problem for me and my hat-switch.

I had track-IR for a bit and did not like it, I sold mine for ten bucks. Properly set up with a hat-switch and one base button track IR is unecessary. One track I have shows me evading a spitfire on my tail from a good altitude all the way to the deck, trading places and shots the whole time, you will see I have no problem tracking anything in this hot dogfight situation, so the rest is a snap.

I hope you can get back online soon, check out the Spits_vs_109s server, it is a cockpit-on, no-icons server that usually has a good population during the evening hours of the USA. S!

Hi Mango,

For quick viewing I just have a lot faster TIR speedsettings. So I don't have to move my head so much.

Maybe less then 5 deg. left or right to check 6 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Maybe a bit more difficult to learn in the beginning, but if you can do it, it will improve your SA a lot.

Ok well, its not really hard, once you have this rar file downloaded, if you simply place it in your records directory its easy. You run winzip, and tell it to open the rar file, you can find that in your records directory. Then click extract and it might give the records dir automatically or you can browse for it yourself. And tell winzip to extract the files there. After that they show up as trk files in your records directory.

Let me know if this helped.http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif If not I´ll post the tracks individually tomorrow.

Thanks for the link, will check it out!
