Anyone know or downloaded DirectX 9.0b end-user Runtime? It's in the XP Windows update.

Its great, some games are running the same and some are running faster. For some reason IL2 is running faster even though its openGL probably cause of Direct sound and crap. OpenGL is just graphics not sound.

Tried it; got a 10 FPS SLOWDOWN on my system (P4 2.8, Radeon 9700 pro, I gig RAM) did a system restore, back to 35-39 FPS in perfect mode; not touching Mr. Gates burnt offering again.

You can get the redist version here

http://www.iexbeta.com/comments.php?id=1303&catid=2

In XP make a system restore point before installing as you will not be able to uninstall afterwards.

Thanks

D/L said six minutes. Took an hour 15min! On cable! Why does update always do that? Any other site is quick. Is Gates D/L all our most intimate secrets too, for later black mailing.?

Anyway, had performance drop. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif Had to fiddle to get it back to normal FPS. So Old Gates Gets all my info ever and gives me nothing back! No changed there then!

How do you make a system restore point on down loading DX9.0b?If I decide to do it.Don't like the pro's & con's I read on the forum about gainning & loosing frps.

Go to Control Panel -> Performance and Maintenance choose system restore and create restore point

Installed it yesterday. No performance drop. No ill effects. In fact, no effect at all.

Installed today. No change in frame rates however I swear the graphics have gotten even better especially the muzzle flashes, fire, cannon hits and explosions.

Maybe its just my imagination but I think the graphics are improved. Anyone else notice this?

DirectX-9b is working good for me also. I run FB in Open-GL and I would swear the graphics seem better. Maybe its just late, who knows.

Dig around a little and you'll find one I left deliberately too.

Installed and ran the blackdeath trk to benchmark where 9.0b had made any FPS impact and absolutely none detected.

No impact. hence no pros or cons to report on FPS....

Just thought i would offer my humble offering to the higher FPS crusade.
