Hi all;

If you have ever read any of my technical threads about Japanese aircraft or Japanese army air corps operations, you have no doubt seen me credit Mr. Jim Long with a significant amount of my education. Messer's Long, Lansdale, Dunn, Glass and others at both the J-Aircraft.com (http://www.j-aircraft.com/) forums and others such as Masa, Summer, ta.gucci and others at another forum are by far the leading historical experts on Japanese Aircraft and operations, their credit you'll find in a vast number of publications and their statements on the subject and grass roots research should never be overlooked.

That said, Mr. Long has recently been transcribing from official U.S.A.A.C. Intelligence Reports, that though seeming generic are often the best information we have as they are official with all credits given, and original so most likely not as altered as anecdotal stories passed down tend to become. From the horses mouth if you will.

Look over the topics I'll post here and be sure to check back often at what is really the premier site for WWII Japanese aircraft and unit information, J-Aircraft.com (http://www.j-aircraft.com/)

You left out the number one authority on literally everything to do with the Japanese Navy air arm in the early part of the war, David Aiken, who is currently writing a book on the air operations of 7 Dec 1941.

Thanks for the other Aiken link. J-aircraft has bailed me out with wonderful help and information several times. Lansdale is a prince. I recommend them to anybody with a desire for great information on the subject of Japanese aircraft, operations, etc.

I cant even imagine taking a zero aginst a flight of B-17's in this game. I get shredded by a flight of SBDs!! Those tail gunners must all be good-ol-boys from Kentucky.

Hit them with a high side attack---that's what a real Zero pilot would do---you won't get scratched, and if you do it right you can badly mess up a B-17 or blow an SBD to bits. Never go right up the six unless you are determined to get into the Yasukuni Shrine. Genda

You can splash bombers with a Zero, but you do need to hit from an oblique angle. If you get dead 6 on any of the big US bombers, your going to get shredded in a Zero.

Coming in at 2 to 4 oclock and hitting them in the pit and wingroots works pretty well with the 20mm, and its doable with the 7.7mm, but takes a couple of passes.

Just remember the AI sucks at shooting deflection and use it! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Yeah I have tried to come in from all points of the compass, the problem is the darn SBD drivers are getting smart and they're not cooperating by flying in a straight line!!!! Buggers :/
