Are you having a problem?? A general answer would be to go to start/control panel/java [it's the little cup icon].....there will be a 'tab' for 'update'. [WinXP Pro here,so your's may be different!?!?]On the 'update' page is a radio button near the bottom 'update now'. The 'latest' version is [i think] 1.5.0 [build 1.5.0_06-b05]."If" you are having problems!?!? as i am with errors in jvm.dll.........updating to the latest/removing the 'old' updates/deleting java cache & every other "fix" from SunMicrosystems has NOT worked for me!!

Thanks mate.
I am running Windows XP PRO SP2 myself. AMD Athlon 3200+, 1GB RAM.

My Java version.

Now what I had in mind (considering some posts, is that user can/should update his Java folder(s?) within IL-2 Forgotten Battles directory. Now I didn't understand that part, what files to update or is it useful to update at all...

My FB root folder. Note the greyed out directories, same as in Java folder.

As we can can see, we have two directories in FB root folder which have exactly the same name as two directories within Java folder in Program Files (default install directory).
I have just copy/paste "bin" & "lib" folder from Java folder into FB folder, overwriting default ones.
Game wont start (luckily I have backup my original "bin" & "lib" folders).
So I am stuck with this one.

Did you un-install Micro$oft's Java before you installed the Sun Java?

You shouldn't have to do anything to the Java in the game.

If you want instructions on how to remove M$ Java from your machine (with links to the tools) just visit our site and read down on the front page on how to remove the M$ Java.

Badsight.

AFSG_Bulldog , there is a slight running smoothness increase by upgrading to the latest Java

i gained stuff all FPS , maybe 1 or 2 , but the game ran smoother & was more "pause free" . i didnt do anything to the FB folder java files tho & this is what Kuna is asking about , part of FB is Java based & there may be a further performance gain to be had . . .

About removing MS Java I didn't do that, I have just installed Sun Java.

It would be interesting to know if FB folder java files can be updated and in which way, and what (if anything) could be gained from such action.

Anyway thanks for input guys, I appreaciate it.
