Sorry I don't have a complete answer, but 'find' gives this:

Thanks, I too ran a search before I posted this topic, but I couldn't find any comprehensive charts/lists of plane types matched with tracer colors. Thought that someone might have put one together and was willing to share / put out a link to.

Oh well, now I've got some idea of what to look for.

If yu live in the northern California region there is a Jelly-Belly factory just about 45 minutes east of San Francisco on Hwy 80. There you will find all the information you want! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Blue or big white tracers followed by smoke flying past your window means there's a Luftwhiner trying to whine you to death.

Red or medium/small white tracers flying past your window means there's a Pony pilot or Spitfire jock trying to do it from behind.

And green tracer means VVS ? Don't they use white as well ?

Japanese tracer, anybody ?

Treetop, the last Jelly-Belly I ever heard of went by the name of Sonny Jurgensen.

Last time I went up online in an IL-2 there was a Bf-109 buzzing the base. He went after me and I proceeded to circle low over the AAA while trying to engage him. A Yak and a Mig-3 joined the fight. Very soon I had green tracer zipping past my canopy as the Mig-3 had BADLY fluffed his aircraft recognition and must have thought I was the 109! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

He recognised his error in time though. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

How the bloody heck does one confuse an IL-2 with a 109? One's big, slow, and bounces anything smaller than Mk 108 shells, whilst one's small, fast, and dives like a Peregrin Falcon.

Basically:
Axis (Italian, Japanese, and German) planes use mainly white and blue tracers (with smoke)
US planes have mainly red tracers
British use mainly red and white
And the Russkies have green and white tracers mainly, and maybe red and blue, I think

All you need to look for is red and green tracers when flying Axis, and blue and white when flying Allied.
