View Full Version : My girlfriend made a successful takeoff!

She has never tried Forgotten Battles or even a flight-simulator on a computer.

I asked if she would like to have a go with a Hurricane, settings on full realism.

I told her to hold the stick steady, press forward and twist to maintain direction.

With the throttle slowly increasing and small movements on the stick she GOT THAT PLANE IN THE AIR!

It took me a lot of time to practise a take off.

I love my girlfriend....

There's a reason it's called a ****-pit and not a kitchen..

But congrats anyway..

And that reason is.... It's named after the "pit" in which **** fighting used to be staged. The oldest pub in England (The Fighting C0cks in my City) still has one. They do have a kitchin as well!! For the ladies.

My wife (same situation as your GF, since she's never flown a sim) landed a 109 G6 in an open field. Beat that! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

She even CHOSE the field actually before landing in it -- she chose it because it was near a river and she likes how water is modeled in the game, so she wanted to look closely at it.

So the bottom line is.. Your GF can do better.. Tell her "Practice, practice!" /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

for some reason girls are most likely better in pc games (as long as they are not absolute stupid chickens)
must have something to do with the hormones or something like this /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

anyway, congratulations

(i didnt need any practise to take off with even the worst plane... am i a girl...? no that cant be... *looks downwards* no...definetly not...) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

You guys are taking a terrible risk here...your GF/wives may decide they like the game, join a squadron, discover Hyperlobby, and spend every spare few minutes of time flying....ON YOUR RIG !!!

This is bound to leave plenty of time for YOU to do the dishes, cut the lawn, do laundry...etc.

(shuddering at the thought..)

Some experiences are better not shared, lol

It is more or less true. I remember an "old" girlfriend of a friend of mine used to be a real killer in LAN Quake Arena and Unreal Tournement http://forums.ubi.com/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif . But much less in strategy stuff (Command & Conquer, Age of Empires, etc) /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .
On the other hand, my girlfriend is absolutely scared even to try FB !!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif She says it looks too real and she's afraid of flying those ugly killing machines!!!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif But she's absolutely overmodelled on adventure games!! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
Strange animals, these girls... /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

My wife will not touch a video game. She enjoys watching me play through certain video games (Thief I & II were her favorites), but she won't play any herself. The one time I got an X-box controller into her hand, she just held it like it was a sack of crap and did nothing. She wouldn't nudge the controls, anything. She just looked at me like I was insane.

She also hates IL-2 because it's so friggin' boring, she says. For the most part, I understand what she means as it's not real fun to watch someone fly a plane.

Solution is very easy, I had that problem when we first moved in together so I simply gave her my system and bought a new one for myself.

Well, my wife likes to play card games. I am forever getting my rig back from her anyway. I wish that she liked FB, and wanted to fly instead. At least I could back-seat-drive the airplane while she flew. I HATE those stinking card games! I'd rather take turns with her on FB. "Oh, I could never do that, it looks way too hard, and boring." And she says that after playing pyramid solitaire for two hours! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

This whole thread is hilarious!

My Girl won't touch any games on the PC, but she wont let me sell the P2 because of Hot Shots Golf 3, which is actually a really sweet game, but I'd rather put that money towards a video card!

I have Intel(R) Extreme Graphics...Ugggghhhh

My girlfriend was playing with my joystick last night!

XyZspineZyX

A lot of planes can take off BY THEMSELVES...meaning you just put the pedal to the metal and keep it straight...if you use flaps, it goes up even quicker...

One of the worst planes in RL to take off was the Bf-109...in FB it goes up without any help...and if u use flaps goes up like a rocket.

It kind of reminds me of the scene in the Czech film Dark Blue World at the beginning where he's teaching her how to fly. Sounds really romantic /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Believe it or not, but my wife is quite the accomplished He111 top gunner. Watched her get TWO MiGs. I'm lucky if I don't shoot my own plane up. I've been trying to get her to do a coop game on our home network, me as the pilot, her as a gunner, but she says she doesn't need to play anymore? Since she already got her two??
