If it's UBI that killed HL.....

Seeing how there's nowhere else to play it could be that they are setting us up for a pay-to-play service.

If you want to play on-line.......monthly fee, please.

Probably.

It's not a pay to play issue, they just want you hanging out on their website. (and the resultant exposure to their products/advertisements)

Highly unlikely if you actually thing about a pay-to-play service is likely to cost uBI more than they make out of it. HL wa a good thing for UBI it provided a service for themm for free.

if Ubi killed HL (unconfirmed) then RBJ is probably right (kudos to RBJ for the most cohesive thought I have ever seen you type.)

this qualifies as THE dumbest thread ever. hyperlobby is not a business. it cannot be put out of business by anyone. its a flight enthusiasts website. JG27Hyper started it back when janes lobby was still in business and he left it up even when no one came. now its the hottest thing since sliced bread. ubi is second rate to hypers site. hyper will never drop his baby. Never

While he is looking that up you should look up the following vocabulary words:

rumor

speculation

unsubstantiated

Cool Hand Luke is an outstanding movie, by the way. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

I know Carl....I guess that was lame humor on my part.

I must be getting crazy trying to eat these 50 eggs while waiting for the patch.

Maybe HL closure is just a hoax. Is too strange that Jiri didn't gave any explanation to this , we have to wait until things gets sorted out. In either case UBI can beat any 3rd free party online play system just to keep ppl on their servers. Don't forget that Oleg said only 5-10 % of ppl play FB online. That might be true in Russia. I find that ppl look on the cd cover to see if they can play online. My last 5 games I've bought , I've bought them because I could play them online. When I first bought IL2 , I carefully looked if i can play online. See , I was driving for over 2 year in NASCAR virtual championships , and that was A LOT of fun. So I wanted something similar for flight sims. And IL2 responded to my need.
HL came to an end? This is sad if true , but it wont take long until a hack will be found if UBI decided to protect online playing. And what is more sad is that you will not even have to buy FB. Such a beautiful game ending up on warez , if is not already in there.

Perhaps Jiri is on vacation right now and unable to reply?
I say we wait for an official response before we get all upset.
Also, it was pointed out to me that Jiri usually comunicates important things like this thru the pager as he has done in the past, but did not this time, odd.

How long has it been since we heard? 18 hours or so? Surely, if Jiri has been hacked he would`ve put some kind message to inform us that all is well. It`s his silence I find disturbing.

RedDeth, I hope you are right. But you`re beginning to sound more and more like you`re trying to convince yourself that HL has not shut down.

Anyway, we`ll see.

Is Jiri and GT and RBJ the same guy?

I am authorised by Oleg to publish here his e-mail to me with regards to "UBI's idea to kill HL"

It is simply not the case.

quote
"There are changes only for new Ubi.com Game Service features that will allow
many new good services (in progress of development).
Other features we keep as it is and will remove only the old support for
Game Service when the new one will begin to work.
We don't like idea about decreasing of amount of online players. We respect all players and their suggestions."
